About an ago myself and a friend were driving south down Capital (around 2:15 AM) just after the bars closed. My friend was driving in his car he had literally just bought that afternoon about 12 hours prior. We had come from a gas station and were driving in the middle lane. As we got near the Peace Street exit (we were not intending to exit there), out of nowhere an insanely shitfaced driver was going the wrong way on the exit ramp in a large dark green sedan. His lights were completely off and he was headed right for us. My friend slams on the brakes and honks the horn. The driver swerves at the last second and I can hear the passenger screaming at him. Our car stalls (manual transmission). My friend is completely stunned for a few seconds, but I tell him to start the car and get out of there because I was worried about getting rear ended by other traffic. Unfortunately we didn't get a plate or anything. It just made me think about all those warnings my parents use to give me back in high school...

man that must have been scary, i had something similar happen to me a couple of years ago.i was driving down 95 towards fayetteville, going about 85 in the left lane (two lanes). there were two cars in the right lane ahead of me, the back one cut me off so he could go around the car in front of him, so i was pretty pissed (this was around 12 am, so dark outside). all of a sudden the car that cut me off swerved back into the right lane without passing the car that had been in front of him, i look over at the car wondering why they were driving like a jackass. i looked up and there were headlights coming right at me (we were going over a hill which is why no one noticed the car before). i didn't have time to do anything but swerve to the left (the car that cut me off was still beside me in the right lane). the guy coming towards me still hit the right side of my car and because i swerved i lost control for probably 200 ft or so and ended up on the side of the road. scary shit. i can only imagine what would have happened had i not looked up just in time to swerve, and hit the guy head on going 85 (and no idea how fast he was going). turned out he had alzheimers and no license.[Edited on July 11, 2009 at 3:40 AM.
