r.fucking torx screws and my inability to find a torx driver when i need one.i wish we could get rid of phillips head screws (and flathead, for that matter) and just use torx, i like them better... but since they're so uncommon, i never have a damn driver around.]

sure they work just fine if you have the right size blade, but if the slot is already fucked or your driver is a size or more too small then they are very unforgiving.STOP PERPETUATING THAT NONSENSEDO NOT BUY SLOTTED HEAD SCREWS

now you have tetanus

The only good thing about torx screws is nothing. On another forum i'm on dedicated to hardcore offroading, we have a saying "you're about as useful as a torx bolt"
7/11/2009 10:11:21 PM
Why would you stick a screwdriver in your ass? Your mom is right, you are a freak.
7/11/2009 10:12:25 PM
If you're dealing with normal bolts, then of course you want to use a damn hex head. But if I'm dealing with screws and smaller finish bolts I hate flat head and phillips head stuff and much prefer torx. square drive is also acceptible for larger screws.[Edited on July 11, 2009 at 10:20 PM. I hate torx still. Especially all those security torx variants.

^I agree.
7/11/2009 10:41:11 PM
but if they got rid of slotted head screws and flat screwdrivers, what would i use for a prybar?
7/11/2009 11:21:55 PM
torx are very terrible. good initial idea - more surface area for the bit to grab and whatnot but I always end up stripping them out. my opinion - torx = worthless
7/11/2009 11:35:36 PM
agreed
7/11/2009 11:52:47 PM
I use hex head or hex socket cap screws pretty much exclusively
7/11/2009 11:57:23 PM
each screw head type has its proper situation
7/11/2009 11:58:52 PM
torx can get annoyingi've only stripped out the very small ones, though.
7/11/2009 11:59:54 PM
the proper usage for torx screws/bolts is throwing them in the trash can
7/12/2009 12:00:21 AM
my theory is that jeeps use them so people at least have to have an oddball set of tools to steal half of your truck while you're inside the grocery store or wal-mart.(that said, those security torx bolts are a real pain in the ass. i really do hate them).
7/12/2009 12:02:16 AM
that may be so, but what is the point of having a fucking torx bolt on the sway bar link? and why only the bottom and not the top? stupid dcx.
