preparing to boil eggs for breakfast, wearing only the T-shirt that she normally slept in. As I walked in almost awake, she turned and said softly, 'You've got to make love to me this very moment.' My eyes lit up and I thought, 'I am either still dreaming or this is going to be my lucky day.'

Not wanting to lose the moment, I embraced her and then gave it my all; right there on the kitchen table. Afterwards she said, 'Thanks,' and returned to the stove, her T-shirt still around her neck. A little puzzled, I asked, 'What was that all about?' She explained, 'The egg timer's broken.'

Hard boiling them takes about that long.

I put my eggs in cold water. Put 'em on the stove on high. When the water is boiling, I set the timer for 15 minutes.

That can't be too long. Eggs are barely starting to crack at 15 minutes.

Soft boiled means what...runny middle and hard whites?

you're doing it wrong still...

get eggs to boil (you can let it sit at a boil for a few minutes if you want) but boil to 10 minutes off heat cooks them hard, less so for softboiled.

no wonder you get them cracking 15 minutes of boiling... damn

ok those run-on sentences are confusing me.

use some punctuation and try again. tell me how to boil eggs the right way because obviously, i'm doing it wrong. even though my eggs are cooked when i remove them from the stove.

now, is that from the moment the water started to boil? i can maybe believe that.

but honestly i'm just worried about bringing an egg off the stove that doesn't have a firm center. so 15mins works for me, cuz then i know they're always done!

I always wait a minimum of 14 minutes, so it looks like we win and they lose.

He could see the storm clouds rollin' across the hill
He barely beat the rain in from the field
And between the back door slammin' she heard him say
"Damn this rain and damn this wasted day"

But she'd been waitin' for this day for oh so long
She was standin' in the kitchen with nothin' but her apron on
And in disbelief he stood and he stared awhile
When their eyes met, they both began to smile

Somewhere other than the night
She needs to hear I love you
Somewhere other than the night
She needs to know you care
She wants to know she's needed
She needs to be held tight
Somewhere other than the night

1 - get pot
2 - put water in pot 2/3's-3/4's full or enough to cover eggs but not boil over
3 - put desired / prudent number of eggs in water in pot
4 - turn on stove
5 - put pot on stove
5b - optional lid for faster boiling
6 - wait for boil (i don't include this in the timing part and egg timers do not either)
7 - water at boil let boil for 1 minute + (preference, but you do NOT need to boil it for 15 minutes)
8 - remove pot from hot burner
9 - put on lid if it's not already on
10 - let eggs sit in hot water in pot 10 or more minutes for hard boiled eggs, for soft boiled 3 minutes

(this is for large eggs, XL eggs may take a little longer or you might want to boil them a little more)

how fucking hard is that?

i bet you eat your fucking steak well done too

actually no, my steak is medium usually.

but damn, there ain't no way those eggs are hard boiled if you remove them from heat after only a minute. i'm calling bullshit.

^^That is how I cook my hard boiled eggs too.

The water has specific heat that continues cooking the eggs.

i mean, i know that much. but i don't see it being enough to cook the eggs thoroughly.

i'm actually going to try your method when i get home today. i'll make some egg salad.

i shall report back.

incorrect usage of specific heat

I believe the phrase you are looking for is "residual heat energy"

Quote :
"Specific heat capacity, also known simply as specific heat, is the measure of the heat energy required to increase the temperature of a unit quantity of a substance by a certain temperature interval."

salting helps, but you don't have to do it to get a boiled egg.

think of it as a well recommended option

it was a joke about how some dumb broad only cooks eggs for 30seconds, and yet all you faggots did was argue about how you cook eggs.

eggs yo, serious business

on a egg side note, i've found that getting a little olive oil/butter up to a near boil (just a little) / popping in a pan and then cracking an egg in the pan cooks the egg in less than a minute (scrambled/fried)
