and i did something stupid. three days sober and i slept with a stripper without protection. i fucked up. AIDS tests...i can't even describe the fear.

i think it's all about WHY you drink. If it's for the avoidance of pain and the past, alcoholism seems pretty real. I use it to control myself, fall asleep, etc.

You have to wait 30 days to test positive. But even if you test negative after 30 days, it could be as far out as 6 months.

When I volunteered as a sex educator, we told people to use protection in a monogamous relationship for 7 months. After 7 months, both get negative tests before you stop using protection.

And I don't want to get into a heated debate over alcoholism being a disease, but it cannot be disputed that chronic alcohol use alters the body in such a way that makes abstaining from alcohol problematic on many different levels. Alcohol withdrawal can cause a broad spectrum of problems as minor as tremors and as severe as death.
