I've been baptized. It was unremarkable.
7/26/2009 11:41:12 AM
I have been baptized. If there is such thing as hell, i feel sure i would end up there. Good thing i don't have to worry about that.
7/26/2009 12:25:49 PM
nope
7/26/2009 12:27:43 PM
i've been christened as a baby, does that count? ( i mean i have been blessed with holy water)
7/26/2009 12:27:48 PM
I did when I was 14. I think they are two different things. I was only baptized bc I was following jesus's example. I think one should do it but I think the heart is more important than the deed. Jesus did it bc of the Jewish tradition.
7/26/2009 12:39:10 PM
lol religion
7/26/2009 12:45:29 PM
is this the part where little kids get to taste wine?
7/26/2009 12:46:11 PM
I am a Free Will Baptist. Baptism is a very important outward sign of your faith and a reflection of something that has occurred within. I have not been baptized. It's a step that I just have not taken. Now, I have been saved -- accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal savior. It's not the same thing a baptism.[Edited on July 26, 2009 at 12:47 PM. None of the above for me. My parents (in their words) "didn't feel like they should force religion on their children."I appreciate my parents' choice there. Trusting your children from the day they are born is hard to do.
7/26/2009 12:48:23 PM
yes
7/26/2009 12:49:07 PM
I don't believe in fairy tales. So, no.

my mom was a sunday school teacher at a Soutehrn Baptist church. i went to church up to 3x per week, and was active in the youth group.i made personal decision to be "saved and baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" when I was 12 years old. and, of course, nothing happened. and my lingering suspicions that Christianity was a sham became more pronounced. i pretty much quit going to church by the time i was 16. but it was pretty much a painful chore of a joke for those last two years before i finally put my foot down and refused to go anymore.

There's a tall, skinny black guy and a short, fat white guy that always stand downtown, asking passerbys if they've been saved.Which one is roddy?
7/26/2009 3:47:27 PM
wait, i thought it was christians who were the ones supposed to be making disparaging remarks about others' lifestyle choices? i think some of y'all got the wrong memo
7/26/2009 3:51:42 PM
maybe when i was a kidi honestly couldn't say though
7/26/2009 3:53:55 PM
baptized when i was a baby. then i was confirmed in like middle school. i did youth group for awhile in middle/high school. that is when it was trendy to be religious i guess.now i just don't care. i don't really think i believe in god. i don't 100% disbelieve either because who REALLY knows. but i don't do organized religion. i don't really do religion at all, i guess.i just don't think that when we die we are all going to have a bbq in the sky and be reunited again and be happy. i also don't think that you have to get morality from religion or that morality SHOULD come from religion. i mean, can't we just know right from wrong and make "good" choices because we want to and we are rational not because we fear god's wrath? and for me religion is different than spirituality. i also think that either way, it should be a personal choice and a personal relationship (with whomever) and people shouldn't be all in your face like "i go to church! praise jesus! be a christian be a christian be a christian!" etc. i know that is a stereotype and religion does do some good, i just feel like i (personally) see more harm than good come from it. i know other people feel differently and that is fine. i guess you are lucky to have been exposed to model religious people instead of like, overzealous jesus freaks. /rant!

the most lol thing about baptism in Baptist/Pentecostal churches is that you don't even have to be a pastor or anything to baptize someone, you can get your grandpa to do it if you wantorganized religion ftl
7/26/2009 4:21:09 PM
isn't having a close friend or relative involved in such a personal experience less "organized religiony" than having a typical church authority do it?
7/26/2009 4:32:06 PM
i'm not baptized, nor have I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior.

I was baptised and forced to repeat religious bullshit at christian camps when I was really young, but I grew out of that shit fast.
7/26/2009 5:27:08 PM
Is there any way you can be unbaptized?I was baptized against my will, and I'd like the procedure undone.
7/26/2009 5:30:45 PM
yeah. you just have to submerge yourself in a tub full of hooker spit for 83 seconds.
7/26/2009 5:32:25 PM
i always assumed i had been baptized as a kid. actually asked 2 summers ago and found out i hadn't been. i was glad cause i'd felt more obligated toward being a catholic if i had been. either way i'm one of the ppl that hates on religion even though i do think it does some good for some ppl. but some of it is so damn silly and i can't believe grown adults buy into it.
7/26/2009 5:32:27 PM
you arenty baptized in order to be savedyou are baptised because it is a public confession that you have accepted Jesus AND more importantly that you believe that he died on the Cross, was buried, and rose againyou do not have to do it in order to reap the benefits of salvation. Its a confession of Faithgood lord folks, the Bible is not hard to understand. The only thing you HAVE to do to receive salvation is approach the Lord with a repentant heart and ask for forgiveness of your sinsyou dont have ever have to walk into a church, you dont have to be baptized, and you dont have to tell a soul. Period.(and btw I check the expiration date, and if its expired you arent gettin in...VALID Photo government issued ID)[Edited on July 26, 2009 at 5:38 PM. Reason : d]

could be a dedication of the infant to ChristI dont know, thats not according to the doctrine of any Baptist church I have been to, only children of age to understand Salvation and have been saved and request baptism according to the scripture get baptized. (or their family makes them do it, which is not according to scripture)children that cannot understand salvation due to age or diminished mental capacity do not got to hell if they die.
