And what did you do? Keep it or try to find the owner?

Most I ever found was $42 on the ground while waiting in line at a restaurant. My first thought was to ask if anyone dropped it, but reality kicked in and reminded me that anyone could lie and say it was his, so I kept it, rather than risk being a sucker.

Second most I ever found was a $20 bill in the locker room in high school. I kept that one too, rather than have a classmate lie about dropping it. I made the mistake of telling my sister about it, and she got on her moral high horse and said you should have turned it in, that's so dishonest, I'm telling mom, blah blah, so I said I made it up and just wanted to see what her reaction would be.

when i was a busboy i found $100 under a table one night. the people who had been at the table were regulars so i turned it in to my manager. he gave it a week and they didn't come back/call/ask about it so he let me keep it.

I've found a few $20 bills on seperate occasions. When I was younger I was up in virginia with my mom and I found a scratch off lottery ticket balled up in a gas station parking lot that was a $50 winner. I guess somebody had scratched off and thought it was a losing ticket.

i found 300 in the parking lot of walmart on mothers day a year ago or so. i waited for 30 minutes looking for someone who looked like they were having a bad day or like they lost something before deciding it was mine. i still felt bad about it sorta but fuck if im going to give that kind of gift to the lost and found at a friggin walmart

I always check when I see a bank envelope on the ground. Paid off one time in the parking lot at the grocery store when I found about $75 in one. I did leave my number with the store manager in case anyone reported it missing. There was a shopping list in the envelope that would pretty easily identify who it belonged to if anyone called.
