Pay attention to the inches, not the pounds. You can gain muscle and lose fat. Muscle weighs more than fat.

i found this out a few months ago when i started jogging. your body isnt used to any type of exercise. so when you start walking/jogging, you are going to build muscle way faster in the beginning. you should notice your clothes getting looser despite what the scales say.

its. all. good.

exactly. I never step on the scale. I just know that I had to buy a new belt last week because my old one is now too big.

i don't think i'd be gaining muscle in just a few days....right? i guess i should take my body measurements and watch that but with all this extra weight you'd think i'd lose some first before getting muscle.

it is obvious that i know nothing about fitness. i just put on my ipod and run.

at least, it was that quick for me.

Also, try to do some resistance training or weights. By increasing your muscle mass, you will boost your metabolism and your bod wil naturally burn more calories.

i get on the scale no less than 5 times a day. believe me, i know what you mean about hating the scale. you gotta look at it like this: my jeans are falling off of me. the scale is not moving. either the jeans got bigger when i dried them, or i lost some weight in my hips and tummy.

Let your clothes be the judge of your fitness.

My fat pants are indication that I need to work out more and eat less. Screw the scale.

stay away from the scale for like a week or two and then when you do jump back on, it will be that much more exciting.

the scale is evil. it summons me to it all the time just to let me know.

measurement time it is....not that that will be encouraging either at this point!

do you have to do resistance training or can i get away with just cardio?

If you can't do resistance/weight training, then try to mix it up with yoga or pole dance at least twice a week. This will give you definition in all the sexy places you want (abs, butt) and boost your metabolism. You don't want saggy muscles.

I've lost about 10 pounds since the summer started. 90% cardio. Usually a run around Lake Johnson every other day or so. I've also cut down on soda and I'll replace french fries with a side salad at fast food joints. I try to eat smaller portions too. It's tricky at first but your stomach will shrink. Now I can't eat as much as I used to without feeling like my stomach is going to burst.

it's the truth, and she ended up thanking me for it. you broads are obsessed with that damn scale, and in my opinion it is what makes you fail at your diets. You need to see immediate results, and you need to see results every day as well. It just doesn't work that way.

i think there is just more pressure with girls and their weight, that is why they are scale obsessed....numbers mean a lot to us and we want to see results quick. guys seem to have a more laid-back approach.

After starting abs/weights, I went from a 26.5 in waist to 24 in. Also lost 2 inches in the hips. I really recommend weights/resistance/core training for that extra oomph!

i was thinking some yoga or pilates....to stretch me out and give me some definition. my legs are all muscle from dancing, it's my belly that needs to be toned....A LOT.

^you're a man, that's why you realize that. hence my theory of women vs. men and weight loss.

Have you tried bikram (hot) yoga? It's fantastic for toning/stretching.

Your lean mass(non-fat) can dictate how much weight you should try to lose.

For a while, I was trying to get to 115 lbs. Then my trainer told me that since my lean mass is 111 lbs, 115 would be a dangerous weight.

Do you have any friends who work in fitness?

25 pounds....i would like to be back to 120-125. i have cut the sugar out of my diet and have been eating salads and fruits. cutting down on carbs is hard for me but i am trying to do my best. i have very little restraint when it comes to food so that is my downfall. i loooove sugar and carbs.

You may want to try a 7-day sugar detox diet to try and break your sugar cravings. These work. You may feel sluggish, but it may be what you need to break the cravings.

you should do a pole dancing class lila because I think it would help your burlesque routine, too. My friend was telling me it was the best workout she had ever had.

Avoid foods with white flour. Starting thinking of white flour as being essentially the same as white sugar. Eat whole grain breads, pastas, etc. -- and don't be fooled by bogus food labeling. The exact phrase "whole grain" must appear near the beginning of the ingredient list. If "whole wheat" is listed first, that means it's not mostly whole grain.
