From another forum that I'm a member...

Quote :
"I would like to inform my fellow Bimmers about the service that I received from http://www.Brakeplanet.com

I ordered brake rotors from http://www.Brakeplanet.com on the 15th of May, I was told that they have them in stock and that they will arrive in less than four days - After waiting for four days and nothing came in, I placed a call to see what the status of the order was. It was that day that I was informed they did not have them in stock and that it would take 5 days more. (Meanwhile my wife is not able to drive her car, due to brakes squeaking loudly and not safe for the kids to be in the car with her)

So I placed another call the 9th or 10th day to see when they will arrive (And that's when I lost it) which I got the manager on the phone named Kathy, at extension 1030 - Who was very RUDE and told me that they are still working on the order and so forth.

So I waited couple of more days and when they still have not arrived, I called back to cancel my order - which at that time they elected to screen my calls and never gave me a call back. So I kept calling them trying to reach someone that could help me, but they just kept on screening my caller ID and letting the answering machine pick it up.

I called them and informed them that they have 72 hours to cancel my order and refund the monies to me. Which of course that did not happen, so today I placed a call to them again asking them why they have not refunded monies yet - I come to find out that they still are working on the order and telling that it would take a few more days to ship of the brake parts to me!
I told them that I had canceled the order and to refund the funds ASAP! Which in turn, they placed me on hold for another 11mins and 32 seconds, before I hung up on them and called them back again. And again, they currently still have me on hold!!!

I hung up again and called back and asked them why is it that I keep on getting placed on hold and no one is getting back to me?? (This time, it was Kathy, the customer manager who picked up) I asked her nicely, "Why is that I keep on getting placed on hold and no one gets back to me? She said that she was on another call and wasn't able to get back to me.

So I asked her, "why isn't the order canceled? And why have you not refunded my monies yet?" she said that has canceled the order with he machine shop by has yet to cancel it out in their system and that I should be receiving my funds in 48 hours. (Will see if that happens)

In conclusion - What a joke that this company is!!! I will NEVER, NEVER again order parts from them!!!
The worst service ever!!!

I'm sharing this info with in hopes that you do not order anything from them, so that you don't encounter the same BS that I did (and still am)"

And this is MY PERSONAL experience..

Quote :
"Very similar experience for me.

I placed an order about a month ago for my mother's brake pads for her QX4.
After a week, I received an email saying that my "brake rotors" were found to be of poor quality and has failed the quality check and that the "brake rotors" are going to be re-inspected to be shipped out after the problem is fixed. They went on to say 'sorry for the mishap, you will receive 10% off your next order'...

First I never ordered rotors. I ordered pads. I emailed them back and said 'wtf'. They said that was a mistake and that the order has been sent through to shipping. Well I waited another week for my pads and I didn't get an email or anything. I called them. No answer. I emailed them. They told me over email that their phone was down and that my order has been sent to shipping for processing and shipping. I was like 'you said that a week ago' and they said 'yes....'. I said 'fuk this. cancel my order' and they said 'can not do it.. order has been already processed'.

So I'm still waiting for me pads."

Please inform other forums that you're a member at about this. I'm really ticked off. Their customer service department is non-existent. Every time I call, the sales line is ALWAYS open and someone answers immediately. The Customer Service line is ALWAYS...ALWAYS busy and the call gets transferred to voicemail. The whole bit looks very shady and I feel I got scammed. I did a google search of brake planet and came up with plenty of very bad experiences from unfortunate customers who went through them for their brake needs.

Let's put them out of business. Please share the information.

The second time you linked that site you did not spell it correctly btw.

Oh and I can't read that due to TL/DR-type regulations.

you could just call your credit card company and ask for a charge-back.

One of the fastest ways to put a company out of business fast is to have multiple people hit them with a bunch of chargebacks. Their merchant services account will be locked/suspended and they won't be able to take CC orders. It's written into every merchant services account - if your chargebacks are much higher than normal during one period, they'll suspend until further notice.

i really hope there's some more basis to this guy's diagnosis and/or he failed to mention ordering pads too. otherwise, any credibility for the rest of the story is highly suspect. not to mention the whole brake break thing.

yes. because you and a handful of other random people on the internet are upset and post about it on a message board, we should all agree to crucify a business based on no primes of our own. you've GOT to have better things to do. what if it's just an issue with not finding quality personnel for a couple of positions? i can't imagine working in customer service, shipping, or the machine shop pays any grand amount, yet they have the biggest impact on the company's operation. do you think that such a temporary and fixable problem deserves the entire company closing up? did you stop to think that it's possible they're being jerked around/lied to also? their rotors and probably most other parts are sourced from china. maybe that warehouse is saying the have things in stock when they don't, is delaying shipping times, or whatever. maybe brakeplanet has the integrity not to slam their supplier to the customer in order to transfer blame. or, maybe they're the scum of the earth and should be shut down immediately. just sayin, people don't stop to consider other possibilities.

i see threads like this pop up on forums all the time, but rarely comment. so, don't take my response too personal, it's mostly just a general rant. i just can't understand why in the world people do business with cut rate places like this though, and then are shocked/outraged when problems arise. especially this day in age with fraud of varying degrees across the internet being so common. did you REALLY expect to have a stellar experience and product? i guess the idea of googling them before ordering instead of after never crossed your mind either? if not, you all must lead a very tough like getting culture shocked like that all the time. lets be real though... you (and probably most of the other complainers) were blinded by the dirt cheap prices and chose to ignore basic common sense. your greed to save a buck was pwned by their (possible) greed to profit off of poor service and a crap product. ironic, huh?

let me be clear that i'm NOT saying any of that is an excuse for a company to act poorly or that they shouldn't be held accountable, but come on. even though we shouldn't have to worry about it in a perfect world, at some point consumers have to realize that not being a dumbass can go a long way in not getting ripped off. it's like walking down the street late at night in a bad neighborhood, and wondering why you got mugged. maybe you didn't deserve it, but you can't say you weren't asking for it.

i'm hardly innocent to the little game myself either. scouting out and capitalizing on excellent deals and scoring stuff for cheap has always been a big enjoyment of mine. hell, most of the mods on my excursion came from ebay and were made in china, lol. it also takes great self control not to buy multiple things off craigslist every day. the difference is i research anything i want and where it comes from, no matter how cheap. then i do a comparison of the cheapest of the cheap and make a decision. i also understand and accept the risk involved. there are two major things to keep in mind when bargain hunting, or even shopping in general, that makes situations like this nearly non existent:

-never let any emotions get ahead of you. an emotional purchase of any kind is a risky one. it's okay to realize that your emotions are too involved for objectivity and back away from the purchase.

-never allow the seller to set your expectations for you. use those expectations as a means of determining if a product is as described, etc. but set your own more realistic expectations for everything else relating to the purchase. accept that you are going to have to make a sacrifice of some sort in the transaction. just make sure it's not on your (not there) expectation of the product quality. be sure the product alone, sans any services, is worth the money. ship time, customer service, etc. are the luxeries you can afford to bargain with.

if by some miracle you ever buy something that is super quality, the company had excellent customer service, it's shipped in record time, and all for half the price of anywhere else, you need to check your ass. you've probably got a horseshoe stuck up it. also proceed to the nearest gas station for a few lottery tickets.
