antibiotics + a broken condom = LAWL

Impossible (if both are used correctly).

I read something last week that said that while most doctors tell you antibiotics do affect the pill, they actually don't have any effect.

i beg to differ.my father is an ob gyn and so is the mother of my best friend. the effects of antibiotics on the bill are well documented.

^^again, you wanna be the girl to test that theory? cuz i certainly don't.[Edited on August 12, 2009 at 11:28 AM. Reason : ,]

instead of listening to OB-GYN or even pharmacist, how about doing your own research like Skwinkle just did. Hint, just go to the WHO website and do a search.[Edited on August 12, 2009 at 11:30 AM. Reason : .]

I most likely wouldn't test the theory, but I don't like misinformation spreading itself around. Doctors are wrong a lot.

Nothing fucks up your lifestyle like an unexpected kid. Not worth the risk.

^ & ^^^ Exactly! I don't want to OOPS just because someone on the internet told me my doctor was wrong. [Edited on August 12, 2009 at 11:32 AM. Reason : .]

GGMon & hgtranhere is the deal. first off Rifampin is an antibiotic, so that is basically case in point. however the main concern for it is with generics. there is a much larger risk with antibiotics when women use generics (and many do) because the levels in generics can fluctuate by +/-20% at any given time. thus any reduction in effectiveness can have a big impact in a situation where the effectiveness has already been reduced.as far as quick research i went to the mayo clinic while typing this and found
8/12/2009 11:33:53 AM
^I'm not arguing that antibiotic does not interfere with oral contraceptive, but only a FEW of them.and also
8/12/2009 11:34:22 AM
I've been told for 10 years that antibiotics fuck with the pill. I don't care if God appeared to me in an epiphany and told me I could fuck the whole Carolina Panthers Offensive Line bareback while taking antibiotics on the pill - I still wouldn't fucking do it.]
8/12/2009 11:40:55 AM
that's not a very good analogy

Apparently the NuvaRing isn't affected by AntibioticsIt's the best BC ever.

I predict hgtran will have an oops kid soon.Seriously, using too many methods of birth control is not a problem. Not using enough can create huge problems. Even under ideal conditions, using only a single method of birth control made me nervous. I'm ok now that I have my tubes tied though, lifetime failure rate is about the same as the failure rate for condoms in one year (2%).
8/12/2009 11:43:17 AM
Seriously, I don't care if WHO says it's safe. Being too careful is better than having to decide on adoption or abortion because you aren't ready for a child.

8/12/2009 11:44:42 AM
i think the pregnancy statistics are a little off because most people don't want to admit that they didn't take the pill or that they fucked the bitch bareback
