anyone know of any other deals going on before i commit to this? i'm fine with the price, and i really wanna stick with seagate... i also "need" the 32mb cache, i know the bottom is falling out on 16s.

just seeing if anyone has suggestions or coupon codes or better sites that would make this model cheaper. not so much looking for X drive is better than Y drive.

^^ MTBF is a joke. Most drives have significantly higher failure rates than suggested. Seagate doesn't have a good track record lately either with the huge number of failures caused by firmware not too long ago (though their tech support is based in the US and knowledgeable).

seagate makes a fine drive. i spend a good portion of my mornings routing 10 year old drives to be wiped, and well over 90% of the seagates come back without the first error and can actually be used again.

western digital and maxtor are literally a coin flip as to whether or not the drive can be saved. they keep the e-recycling companies in business i tells ya

Which is exactly why I told him to get the SV version. It's ENTERPRISE RATED, which means you get a much longer warranty, and much higher tolerance testing of the drive before it hits your hands. Way to pay attention, dawg.
