[rant]I didn't think I was going to make it to NC History class today even though I got to school about 20 minutes early. I think they sold about 100 extra passes for the Reynolds deck and assumed that not everyone would be on campus at the same time. I eventually found a spot though, so it was no big deal.[/rant]So were the other lots just as bad?

park on sherman or carlton and ride the varsity bus over...fo' free!
8/20/2009 4:43:30 PM
yepthey ALWAYS oversell them
8/20/2009 4:43:45 PM
clark worked out free and easy for me
8/20/2009 4:43:59 PM
btw, I am in my final semester, so if you park in the Reynolds deck then there will be at least 1 extra spot left. I was shocked that it was that packed on Thursday. Usually it seems like MWF are the bad days. I'm sure in a few weeks people will either drop out, or quit going to class and just show up on test day.
8/20/2009 4:45:58 PM
Yeah...CD sucks always, but worse this year. Today was the first time i've ever had to park on the 5th level because there were no other spots, and there were barely any left up there
8/20/2009 4:46:35 PM
^There were no spots on the 5th level when I was there and people were just circling around to try to find a spot. I'm sure it will have less traffic in a week, or two.
8/20/2009 4:48:45 PM
walking/riding the bus posed no problems today!
8/20/2009 4:52:07 PM
Get a scooter or motorcycle and park at the front door of all your classes.
8/20/2009 4:52:30 PM
100% centennial ftw
8/20/2009 4:55:39 PM
CD is basically useless.
8/20/2009 4:57:01 PM
^More like over used!
8/20/2009 4:59:58 PM
Is it worse because of the Hillsborough Street renovation?
8/20/2009 5:06:47 PM
since i'm no longer in school and don't have to worry about too many people parking there, stanhope dr. (rd?) off of hillsborough is only off limits between 8:30am and 10:30am. weird hours, i know. but the end of the street is at the back section of valpark, so you also get the satisfaction of knowing people paid an outrageous amount of money to park the same distance from campus as you, only you get to park there for free. it's really convenient if you have classes at nelson, and it's probably still less than a 10 minute walk from the brickyard.
8/20/2009 5:08:49 PM
^Ten minutes from the brickyard, no thanks! CD is great since I am a history major. It's about a 5 minute walk to my classes.
8/20/2009 5:13:30 PM
One of the many advantages of not having a car.
8/20/2009 5:34:28 PM
It doesn't suck on my bike. It never sucks.
8/20/2009 5:37:44 PM
^ even during hurricane season?
8/20/2009 6:06:34 PM
So today I turned the corner and a girl was walking to her car. I waited for her while she sat in her car for about 2 minutes before backing out. Then I pulled in and let about 10 cars behind me continue to drive around and look for parking.
8/25/2009 7:07:06 PM
That deck sucks a massive dick, I parked there last year and if you try to get a spot between 1030 AM and 1 PM you're just forced to circle it for 10 minutes. I got a permit at the Dan Allen deck this year... shit is professional. I never have to worry about parking so far.

my perimeter pass puts me real close to jordan hall
8/25/2009 9:16:05 PM
I feel bad, because I did an assholish thing today. There was someone backing out of a parking spot right on the corner and a car was waiting to turn right into it while I was pointing straight at it, so I snuck in there before they turned and got an excellent spot. The guard came up to me and told me she was waiting before me and I said I don't care it is the schools fault that they are letting the DOT use half of a section. I guess it is for the construction workers. They need to make them park in the pay lot and give us back our 30, or so spots.
8/27/2009 1:40:07 PM
Parking on campus always has and always will suck.
8/27/2009 1:43:53 PM
8/27/2009 1:44:02 PM
^I actually meant that the girl kept driving and the guard told me I shouldn't have done what I did.^^Not always. The Reynolds Deck isn't that big of a problem once school gets going and people drop classes, or quit going.[Edited on August 27, 2009 at 1:52 PM. Reason : .]

8/27/2009 3:08:38 PM
yall negros need to park on daisy
8/27/2009 3:09:55 PM
So it does seem that before 10:00 am gets you a spot on the 5th level. That is fine with me. Now I have to get up earlier though.
9/1/2009 10:25:09 AM
it sure is nice to have a C permit
9/1/2009 10:29:14 AM
^Where do you get to park with that?btw, that road block and sign that said "Reserved For DOT" was gone today, so I guess they gave us back our 20+ parking spots that they took between the second and third levels.[Edited on September 1, 2009 at 10:43 AM. Reason : .]

I got to school at about 11:10 today and was able to park on the 5th level without driving in circles for 10 minuets! It's getting to the point that parking will begin to open up. The pay lot had a long line waiting to get in though.
9/3/2009 1:44:25 PM
a B permit is even better.
9/3/2009 1:51:28 PM
^ i have one i can pick up at any time, so
9/3/2009 1:52:33 PM
my B is better than your B
9/3/2009 1:54:36 PM
i bribed the transportation people to give me an SPit's worth it because i'm lazy
9/3/2009 1:56:01 PM
fuck all of y'allat work i've got an SV permit
9/3/2009 2:29:23 PM
When I had my SV-650 I always wanted to park in the SV spot and be like, "What?! It says 'SV' dammit! " to the meter maid asshole.
9/3/2009 2:33:06 PM
ah, that's true...i park my motorcycle in the motorcycle spots (i've never had a permit for it) and i park the scooter wherever i want
9/3/2009 2:33:53 PM
Yeah, those motorcycle spots are one thing, but that SV spot is definitely not something they'd be happy about you putting your bike in! Last year, the motorcycle parking sticker was impossible to see on my ZX-10R anyway because the inverted front forks force you to place it so far up that it's hidden by the fairings. I don't think they really bother to do as much checking with motorcycle parking for obvious reasons and scooters are pretty much treated like bicycles on campus, which is convenient as hell if you have one obviously. Btw, the motorcycle parking permit only used to cost a few dollars if you already had a valid parking permit for an automobile, which is why I just ended up getting the motorcycle parking permit as well last year to make sure there were no hassles. ]
