Super pumped about this. Coming out in the summer of 2011. Apparently Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom said they were tired of doing it but Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are still going to be in it and there are going to be new "big name" actors in it.

It's going to be something about how both Jack Sparrow and Barbossa have to team up together to fight (this is the worst part) Blackbeard.

I'm totally obsessed with Blackbeard and of course I'm in love with the character Jack Sparrow so it's going to suck having to see them fight, but regardless, I'm sure it's going to be a great movie.

Aren't they paying Depp like 50 million for this?

I haven't heard that, but I do know they are cutting the costs of it and not having as many special effects going on....who knows.

I mean I assume it is still going to be a movie, I don't think Johnny Depp would be in a movie if he thought it was going to be a bust.

I'm also really excited to see who plays Blackbeard....BUT....wasn't it implied that Blackbeard was Jack Sparrows father in the At Worlds End? Captain Teague?

Yeah, Teach and Thatch were both names that they think Blackbeard went by. But Edward Teach/Thatch was also an alias. There are no records as to anything that he was before that.

But since Teague is so similar to those two names I think they were trying to imply that he was Blackbeard. But there is also a time in the movie when they are hoisting the colors when Blackbeard's flag is raised.

1st one was very entertaining, loved it.
2nd one was meh. Worth seeing $1.50 but I was severely disappointed seeing it for full price.
3rd one was absolutely terrible; I rented it and was still disappointed.

If I see this fourth one at all, it will be a rental.

I think they've all been good, but it's kinda like this: 1>>2>>3 so i'm pretty sure the 4th one will be slightly worse than the 3rd.

But I don't care, because Jack Sparrow is one of the best characters to ever come out of a Disney movie and I'd have his children if he wasn't fictional.

I heard that the real reason they bought Marvel is because they wanted the 4th movie to be Jack Sparrow vs Namor.

People continuing to watch movies like these is part of the problem with our culture. there is no appreciation for standards any more.

I guess I am with the minority on this one. I enjoyed the POC movies. 2nd one drug on to me, but still enjoyed. It's the kid in me. I enjoyed most all of the characters and follow the movie really well.

I like the idea of this one so far. I will be there!!! To bad my son will probably still be too young to watch all of them.

I am with you. PoC has been a good franchise to me.

If you want to see why society is shit these days turn on any evening news or network 'news' shows.

or TLC

I saw Pirates 2 and Pirates 3 at the Midnight showings that all the theaters had in the middle of the week on opening night. And I'm sure that's how I'll see Pirates 4. They're just entertaining to me.

^Yeah TWW just has really harsh critics....these guys could find something wrong with any movie.

I am pumped. I don't think the loss of Keira and Orlando will be that bad....I love Barbossa too!

Yeah I heard about that around the time Sweeney Todd came out ... I don't really blame him though, he said he feels weird watching himself.

I thought it was adorable that he had the PotC outfit flown to Europe so he could go to the children's hospital dressed as Jack Sparrow after the hospital basically saved his daughter's life

Really, I'm no film critic but the second two lacked the bite of the first. I think it helped that a lot of people weren't expecting much from the first and it turned out to be rather good.

Agreed. They were a convenient sub-plot in the first, but the other two . . . not so much. Bloom played the pretty boy who got the girl well, but neither of them are believable as pirates.

I thought the absence of Geoffrey Rush left a noticeable hole in the second one. This one has potential if:

1) it is adequately "dark"
2) if plays off the grudging respect / animosity Sparrow and Barbossa had in the first film. That chemistry is really what tied the film together.

I heard Rob Pattinson got up and left in the middle of Twilight cause he felt weird.

Johnny Depp

Also, I'm going against what everyone else is saying...I really liked the 3rd one, that fight between the two ships in the whirlpool was a great part I though.

Im looking forward to this. I liked the 3rd better than the 2nd. But the first is one of my all time favorite movies. I can catch it on tv at any point in the movie and im hooked. Great combo of action, comedy, and special effects.

^^^ i'm not sure which one i like better...the blonde (NOT jesse jane) from the first one (carmen luvana, maybe?) was incredibly cute/hot and i wish she had been in the second, too

actually, i can't stand jesse jane...her boobs look like crap and her facial expressions while having sex make me want to slap her with a baseball bat

My wife and I saw it when we were on a business trip together and there was a movie theater right next to the hotel. Going in I was complaining "a movie based on a disney ride? What's next, the Tea Cups?". Going out I said "Bring on the Tea Cups!".

I'm just going to pretend that the series ended with that one.

I really liked the first one. I saw the second one in theaters and was like "meh." I waited to see the third one on dvd and was even less impressed. It's definitely a franchise that is more concerned with the $$$ than making quality films; which is too bad because you can do both.
