So... Where is the cheapest place to get Frontline Plus? I've looked and so far, Target has Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control (6 Doses) $74.99 on their website. I can't find them in the stores as they seem to only carry Hartz so I believe I'll have to order it online.

Any other suggestions? My vet recommended VetCentric, but it was $10 more there. Halp plz

Having worked at a vet clinic, the reps from Merial (who make frontline), and from the other pet drug companies would always say we don't sell our drugs to pet meds or the other online pharmacy companies, we don't back any of the guarantees if you buy it through one of those companies because their acquisition of many of the meds are through less than legal means, and the products aren't always what they say they are, and for that reason Petmeds has been shut down by the FDA a number of times.

Even though I stopped working there to go to grad school this year & no longer have an employee discount, I am still going to buy more expensive versions of the medication from my vet rather than from an online pet meds type company b/c of what the makers of those meds of told me/warned me about.

who cares? i'm sure the product is still the same whether merck-merial sold to them directly or not (no, i really don't believe they're handing out bogus flea treatment...maybe product that was acquired around the FDA, but i'm sure it's still the real thing, otherwise they wouldn't stay in business long with their advertising)...if you had to do something silly like make a guarantee claim, how's merck-merial gonna know? just say you got it from your vet

I've been buying Frontline Plus and Heartguard online now for awhile from Canada or Australia- have only seen the occasional flea on my Beagle when she's been playing in the backyard.

^^we had a client's dog get heartworms while on heartgard. heartgard paid for the 800-1000 dollar treatment, but we had to mail in records that they purchased stuff from us and when, and they also interviewed the client and their primary veterinarian.

sure there are some sketchy places online i would not buy it from, but that only buy it at your vet stuff is bullshit. they just want to overcharge you for it.

drs f&s say they're a guaranteed US supplier of frontline. i've never had a problem with what i received from them, and if you do, call them up.


heartworm medicine is different. you have to have a prescrip for that.

Yeah, the heartworm I have no problem getting from the vet ( I understand it's prescription only and I understand why they do that).

I was just looking for a cheaper way of getting tic/flea/mosquito protection (I am aware that FLP doesn't protect against mosquitos).

^I think advantix might cover you for flea, ticks, and mosquitoes, but I can't remember for sure (if this is for a dog - advantix is not good for cats). I don't know how most places do it, but advantix was always a little cheaper than frontline plus at the clinic I worked out, and I think they just based the prices on a percentage mark up on all the products, so the base price for us to acquire advantix must have been lower than frontline plus.

We were looking into comfortis, but the clinic I worked at doesn't use new products unless they are really familiar with them, or they've been on the market for a year or two so that they can trust them & know about side effects that only emerge after mass use. I bet they'll start carrying it within a year.

I just can't justify paying twice the price at the vet. I understand that there's a risk involved with buying it online, but selling the "guaranteed from FDA" bullshit just doesn't fly with me. The package that arrives to me is sealed, packaged and wrapped in Frontline's packaging. When my dogs show signs of fleas, maybe I'll start to believe the hype. Until then, I'll take my chances and save 50%. After all, they are just dogs....

i think i'm going to go with the second option (the pre-filled syringes)...for $2 more every 6 months, i don't have to deal with a kit...gf just informed me that this is actually what her hometown vet does, that he doesn't sell the retail kits (this is something i was not aware of, but it makes sense)
