How is there not a thread for this yet? I'm seriously contemplating buying this the day it comes out despite the fact that I can't really afford it right now.

I was really considering it after I saw the Gretsch controller, but when I realized how much it was going to cost (I don't own any RB or GH stuff) I decided to put the money toward real guitar equipment instead.

i LOVE rock band, but i really hate the beatles. i hate that they wasted a whole new edition of rock band on the beatles. i know it'll be popular but i don't really think it reflects the tastes of RB's core users.

It's true, RB's core players are musical plebes who hate geniuses.

i just enjoy something that actually takes some concentration to play. something i have to try to do. i don't like thrash metal and whatnot, but it's difficult to play on hard/expert, which makes it fun.

the beatles' stuff is just too easy. like the guy on tv said last night, they're not known for their complicated music, but for the simplistic elegance.

music genius doesn't equal a challenging gaming experience.

Fair enough on the challenge front, but that doesn't explain why you'd hate musical geniuses.

Anyway, I don't know anything about these games past GH3. GH was great, GH2 was fantastic, and GH3 was so incredibly bad that it turned me off to the whole genre. Since RB is a Harmonix product, I assume RB is better, but still.

but the vast majority of people who play rhythm games have fun b/c they're playing music they like, not because it's super difficult.

especially those who chose rock band over guitar hero

i like the music on rock band for the most part. there's not as much metal in RB as there is in GH (a good thing to me). i recently bought GH-WT b/c tool is on it and really don't like the graphics. it's probably b/c i've put so many hours in on RB, but the RB interface seems much more adult if you will, easier to read & find things, etc. plus GH has no drum fill. a lot of people play RB/GH for the party aspect, but even when i play with groups of people i like a challenge, not just to sit there and smack the same heads over and over with no change.

back to the beatles: i've just never been a beatles fan. i love several other artists from the era, and understand what the beatles mean to the music & rock industries. their songs are boring, repetitive, and annoying to me, but that's my opinion.

i don't like the fact that it won't be cross-compatible with anything. like, you can't import your songs from the other 2 games, and any downloadable content you have won't import either. so you either put in the Beatles disc and play Beatles, or you put in your other RB disc and play everything else. that bites.

but i still really wanna get it and the fact that it's got 2-3 part harmonies...

I don't see why there is going to be separate DLC for this that is not compatible with normal RB

why all the separation?

Quote :
"Harmonix's Chris Foster cited the game's new vocal harmony feature as well as the unique song-specific dreamscape animations as reasons for the lack of exportability to other Rock Band games. John Drake of Harmonix stated that the developer had a responsibility to treat The Beatles' songs as "an iconic catalog", and keep its music separated from other songs."

Crap and more crap. This cross-compatibility issue is what's stopping me from buying it.

i'm willing to bet it was a stipulation by the beatles, or what's left of them, that they are kept separate. kinda like how tool agreed to be included in GH but only if they don't use the avatar people during their songs.

You can't even have the Abbey Road Beatles play songs from Please Please Me, so why would the Beatles be playing songs by other people who aren't the Isley Brothers?

There's no provision for failing the songs...the screen just fades to black.

You bet your ass Yoko wouldn't let there be any transferable content between games.

hey little tip, don't buy the limited edition bundle. I got suckered in cuz i've never owned rock band before and I am regretting dropping that extra 60 to get some beatles stickers on the drums and a cool but nothing special bass. Article confirming I am not alone.

Holy crap. This is definitely not an easy game. On Rock Band 1 I can play every song except the very last set list on expert.

I cracked open this game expecting to fly through everything on expert in one go. Not so fast, I five starred the very first song and then failed the second. I've gotten to the third venue (Shea Stadium) and I have already hit the first song I can't beat easily. Through about 10 songs I've five starred one, four starred one and the rest have been 3 stars. The pace of the songs is fast and unrelenting.

Unless you're a total Rock Band nerd (in which I severely pity you) you will not think this game is easy. Like I said, I have Rock Band 1 and I can beat all but like 5 songs on expert and this game is giving me some trouble on expert. If the only thing keeping you from buying this game is you think it will be too easy you are sadly mistaken.

I have no idea about the drums but if you're into vocals, this game should be fun too with the harmonies you can do.

it's "easy" to the scorehero types who do nothing but play the hardest songs in GH all day, then download programs so they can make even harder songs to play.

I'm finding it at my ideal level of difficulty - sight reading mostly 4 stars on hard with some 3s and 5s thrown in. Room to grow with expert doable after practice. And that's after not playing guitar more than a few times since GH2.

Just got this tonight and while I'm not a particularly big Beatles fan, this game is just great. The art is truly exceptional, and compliments the music well. Played through the first 3 venues in the story and am looking forward to seeing more.

I bought the LE pack.

To those who say that its easy: try singing any harmony part or try playing and singing. I can do hard/hard with drums on most songs; but, have to drop the difficulty on the harder ones.

That's the way the game is meant to be played. 1 Bass, 1 Guitar, 1 Drum, and 3 mics is a blast.

I'm not really a Beatles fan; but, they outdid themselves with this game. Easily the best rhythm-music game ever made in every way. I've already completed the story mode 2x with my friends.

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/the-beatles-rock-band-dlc-to-include-original-dreamscapes/

Apparently the new DLC songs will have custom animations tailored for each individual song.
Which wouldn't work in Rock Band 2.
