So, if the multiplayer is identical to Halo 3's, and you can't play it as an ODST...

Did they completely forget the premise of the game -- that is, playing Halo as a non-spartan? Or did they just think it was too hard to make a good multiplayer without having shields?

Apparently you can play MP as ODST in a game mode called Firefight, an onslaught of AI covenant against your team. I don't know about co-operative mode, but the campaign has some interesting tidbits that were not in Halo 3. It's a new story, and new environment. As for slayer, I guess most people would be as good off playing Halo 3.

I never played Halo 3, so I don't know all of the maps and environments, but this looks a bit different.

^You know the only reason anyone develops for a console is to sell more discs. There still looks to be an interesting campaign, but only marginal changes to the multiplayer modes.

After playing Call of Duty 4; the HAlo 3 just felt like Run N Gun garbage which is WAY over due for some updating since its almost the same game as Halo2 except for the game balance was fucked up for the worse.

^^Yeah I was all about the original Ghost Recon and it's expansions; if you did much running in that game you'd be dead pretty quick.

I've never had a problem picking up a game on release day in store. In fact the one time i pre-ordered a game i got screwed and ended up picking it up a day early at circuit city and canceling my pre-order. Never again.

Does anybody really care about the 'cool swag'? I admit its cool and all as you're opening the package but 5 minutes later its just MORE junk you have on your desk or stashed away in a drawer that you're never going to look at again.

I have both a PS3 and an Xbox360. The PS3 hasn't been turned on in over a year. The Xbox gets play time about once or twice a week.

I like it. Its a bit different than Halo 3. For example you have a VISR that you can activate by pressing X which then brightens your screen and everything has a faint white outline around it. It also colors enemy targets in Red and friendlies in green. I didn't get very far but it feels like halo in terms of controls (as I assumed).

I don't know much about the story but my very first impression from the first cut scene was that it felt rushed or that it wasn't going to be as epic as halo 3. I'm judging this not on the dialog or characters but just on the animation and texturing. Something about it didn't seem very fluid or life-like as other halo cut scenes and other games. This opinion changed some what for the better after actually playing the game.

But bottom line is its fun and I'm enjoying it so far. only played about an hour and a half last night.

Also you don't get the feeling that you have some sort of set path to navigate through to get to your objectives (kind of like a side scroller game). The maps (levels) are far more open so it even takes some figuring out and exploring to know where you should go.

i played for about 4 hours last night, and i thought it was alright. i don't want to speak too early on the campaign, because it took me a while to warm up to even the halo 3 campaign. i completely agree with Golovko statements in terms of the graphics, feel for the game, storyline rushed, etc. i have read complaints about a small campaign...but, i played for 4 solo hours on heroic, and haven't beaten it yet.

also, if there are some achievement hoards out there, this would be a good game to get, because there are quite a few achievements on this game, and they are relatively easy to get. in four hours, i had racked up 10 or so without really trying.
