So far so good.
Ken Burns is a real documentary filmmaker. Its nice to see someone build this country up with their films rather than try to tear it down. 9/27/2009 8:14:59 PM |

I recently volunteered at a National Park in SC. (Charles Pickney's plantation) While talking to the ranger the topic of this show came up, and it turns out there's a bit of a rivalry between the Eastern and Western parks. She was upset that the show focuses almost exclusively on the Western parks. I'll admit there's no competition for the natural beauty out there, but in the East and South the parks tend to have historical value. Charles Pickney was one of the framers of the Constitution, and without the Park Service that land would be a golf course right now. 9/28/2009 4:59:01 PM |

I recently interned with the Park Service at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
apparently he only focused on the ones with "National Park" in their title instead of the Lakeshores, Sea Shores, National Battlegrounds, National Monuments, Historic Birthplaces, etc. although they are all park of the NPS 9/28/2009 9:13:02 PM |

the earlier features focus on the western parks and the split from european philosophy regarding parks, but they will get to the smaller parks at about hour 8 or 9. Probably wont feature teh smallest parks and battlefields, just the ones that folks know by name. 9/29/2009 2:27:46 PM |
