david burton is pretty good. funny guy too that likes to have a good time (does good work still) and is pretty cheap compared to others.
thinking about it... It kinda irritates me when a dentist talks to you and tells you joke while you got our mouth wide-open filled with shit... Like are you really expecting me to laugh or talk back?
i like him though. right across the street from broughton high school. most of my family goes to him. 9/8/2009 11:35:34 PM |

I go to Dr. Patrick Roberson, who coincidentally used to also be right across from Broughton high school. Evidently they've very recently moved to Hillsborough Street, in one of the newly renovated old houses near the YMCA and the Velvet Cloak. NC State grad, served in the 82nd airborne, fairly young dude and a nice guy. Recommended. http://www.robersondental.com/ 9/9/2009 1:00:43 AM |

Sunrise Dental has a branch in Raleigh, Durham, & Chapel Hill I believe. I've only been to one of their offices so I can't attest for the quality of them all, but the one I've been to I like & recommend to friends. They were able to remove my wisdom teeth there without referring me out to a more surgical dental place.

They've got maps on the website too. And one of the dentists name is Dr. Dinah Black Vice, it almost sounds like a supervillain name, but she isn't that evil IRL, no more than is mandated to graduate from dental school.

Dr. Anita Sawhney on Jones Franklin road in Cary. Right near crossroads. I used to work there this summer and that place is awesome. Very friendly and usually cheaper than others. How did you get a hole in your tooth btw? 9/13/2009 12:21:05 AM |

maybe i saw this in one of the other threads i was just reading but i'll put it here
I can't believe people are recommending Dr Lane. Maybe his "and associates" are better, but he used to be my dentist back in Fuquay when he only had one office and he was the only guy. He didn't get where he is today by being good, he got where he is today by being the only dentist in town for like 15 years.
I was young and that motherfucker was doing something (i think a filling maybe) and it hurt like hell... I kept asking him to stop and make it numb or something. He proceeded to call me a baby and just kept on.
Before that day, I used to have no problem with the dentist. After that, it freaked me out to even see the equipment that they use. Finally got over it somewhat during high school but still didn't go as much as I should have.
Fuck that guy, he's gonna go to hell for traumatizing children I mean seriously, they go to school for a million years, isn't there at least one lecture about kids?] 9/13/2009 10:21:31 AM |

My husband and I just started going to the dentist again. We were both kinda nervous about going because we both hadn't been in YEARS. And I have a semi-phobia about dentists. So we decided to try Thompson and Thompson family dentistry in Brier Creek (http://www.thompsonfamilydentistry.com) It's a husband and wife team. They are young, like early 30s. He went to State and is a huge state fan. My husband saw him and said he was really good and laid back. He also had a cavity filled by him and said he was great. I saw Susan, she was also really great. She took my "phobia" to heart and sat down to talk with me before working on me. She told me everything that was going on while working on me. I also had a small cavity that she filled and I didn't feel a thing. Also, their offices are very nice, clean and new; and their hygienists are very, very nice as well. So I highly recommend them 9/13/2009 11:08:46 AM |

Its weird, it's very common to have a dentist phobia, but I actually kind of enjoy it. I think it's weird having someone clean my teeth for me, but its not unpleasant. Though, I never really had any "bad" dentist experiences in my youth, so that's probably it.
I've always wanted to whiten my teeth just for shits and giggles, but I think it would look goofy and cost too much. 9/13/2009 11:35:58 AM |

Yeah, I put "phobia" in quotations because it's not a full on phobia. It's more like, I had the same dentist my entire life, like birth - 18 and when I finally had to go out on my own to someone else I guess I picked a bad one. He just wasn't nice and I told him I was in pain he didn't stop and I cried. Ugh. A dentist made me cry. If I could remember his name I would post not to go to him...but I can't remember. His office is on Strickland though (strickland and creedmoor rd intersection area) So I told my new dentist that and she made sure to take breaks and ask me how I'm doing often. And now I have a new dentist that I love 9/13/2009 8:14:25 PM |

My new dental hygienist said, "So, you have an irrational fear of dentists." So, I said, "No, I just don't like it when people hurt my mouth and make me bleed, there's nothing irrational about that." Then she said, "Lots of people are irrational about pain, there's nothing wrong with enduring it for a good teeth cleaning."
I'm switching dentists after that.

I suggest Beavers Family Dentistry in Apex, NC (not too far away, really, and it's worth it for good teeth fixin').
Been there for a while. My hygienist has always been kind to me and I usually get the same one. She knows that I don't like it when they spray cold water directly on my teeth (and remembers it without me mentioning it), she is careful not to be too rough on some of my molars (I've got four that are sensitive and that formed incorrectly, so the consideration is beneficial to making routine cleaning pain-free), and they've never done something retarded that just made me bleed like a stuck pig.
My dentist there is pretty good as well, and if you're nervous or worried because you've had a painful experience in the past (and are worried about becoming numb) he'll just give you all the novocain you need to not feel it (yeah, I had one bad experience with him, but I was dumb for not saying "hey, this hurts" and the next time he did a flawless job).
They take blue dental, and they've got decent modern technology as well. 9/13/2009 8:30:01 PM |

I figure I would ask my question in here seems like a good place. You said you just got dental insurance and were looking to get a hole filled. Ive heard that when you get dental insurance they will not cover anything until you have had a checkup and any problems found during the first checkup will not be covered. I have a few things that need to be taken care of too and plan on getting my insurance hooked up soon so wanted to know if others knew this was the case. Or can I get insurance, go in in a few months, and get the stuff taken care of that I need to? 9/14/2009 8:44:56 AM |

If you live near RTP/Morrisville, Dr. Baky at Triangle Family Dentistry is pretty good. I got some fillings there a couple weeks ago and he did a good job. Brand new office with lots of new modern equipment. The hygienist is also hot as fuck so there's that 9/16/2009 2:54:53 PM |

Seconded. He's a blast to talk to (though I think his assistant gets annoyed when we go off on tangents about ACC sports, restaurants, or the latest gadget news).9/16/2009 4:59:31 PM |

Whoa, I always got this "techie" vibe from him but he has never mentioned his blog. He's a bit "quirky" like I think a lot of dentists are, but he definitely seems like a good guy and I'm going to be a little disappointed to have to find a new one when I move.
