i don't really understand all the hate for the show. it has produced some very talented artists and been an entertaining show for a high number of people for 8 seasons.

as for ellen...ugh. i didn't like paula...and i can't imagine liking ellen either. so replacing one judge i don't like with another isn't that bad of a deal i guess?

well i suppose its hard to argue that the people that win don't have any talent (ie most of the winners do have good voices). The problem comes in the fact that their careers then focus on singing boring, cookie cutter, pop music that any of the final contestants on the show could have put out with the kind of production crews they put behind them. The show is merely one big drawn out advertisement, karaoke, and popularity contest rolled into one to determine the face of their next product.

But in regards to the business side of things, as much as I hate American Idol, it has definitely paid off for Fox and the people behind the show
