I am having some trouble with step one of writing a paper.. the topic. The class is Sociology of Law and I have to state a topic for the 10 pager due at the end of the semester. Not a lot of direction given to us, so.. any ideas? I don't know if I want to go broad or try to hone in on some specific current issue. And everyone that I've asked for suggestions has said the war on drugs.. so that's already an option. Trying to focus on law and society.

why are women underrepresented in prison/on death row?

is affirmative action legal and how does it affect those involved?

how has legalized abortion affected people from different socioeconomic backgrounds?

do lotteries and/or sin taxes unfairly target a a particular demographic?

how does income level affect incarceration rates and sentence lengths?
