ok so i use this instead of stealing it on limewire now because i dont want to get sued and my job requires me to be an upstanding citizen rather than doing things the easy way.

but in light of using it for about a year now, im sick and tired of this bs program that if you try downloading it and dont do it exactly right, you lose the download but you cant redownload it from the site. so now i have to call them up and have them redo the download. most of the time its an indian guy that is in india taking my call and it takes 45 minutes to fix a 30 second problem. this morning i got 10 new songs id been meaning to get and i only have 5 of them. as well, there is a song i never downloaded, charged to my account and downloaded already. so i have about an hour of talking to them. probably gonna drop amazon and not use it again

also, fwiw, i've never had any problems with amazon's mp3 downloaded.

In my less than humble opinion, if you want to go the legal route I suggest buying CDs and and then ripping your music from the disks. That way when the favored digital format changes or your HDD bites it, you can just re-rip and not have to repurchase all your music.

In all seriousness yea if you know an album only has 2 songs on it you'd like I absolutely cannot blame someone for not wanting to buy the whole album. I personally can't stand buying a single song from an album though and usually if an album only has 1 song I like out of 10, I just go without the whole thing. But I know thats just a personal preference.

And for what its worth, I've never had a problem with Amazon mp3 (yet) and I buy a rather large amount of music from there and have for over a year. Now luck will have it that ill get screwed on my next purchase or something

yea i got ya, its really the fact that my internet will cut out or will stall it long enough that the download doesnt complete and now the record shows i have it but the computer doesnt. so yea, its not really the service of amazon, i rather enjoy it because its cheaper than itunes but its just a pain right now.

and yes, its the fact i want only one or two songs from an album, plus i can backup files and make my own cds of 140 songs on a data cd. i can always convert files from mp3 to whatever. plus my trucks cd player recognizes data cds just like your normal music cd.

and i dont use limewire because the hazards and its just not that important i get free music. rather give the money than the cost of cleaning up viruses and lawsuits

I've had problems with amazon mp3 as well, the same problems actually. Most times since it's such a small program and doesn't require a restart, uninstalling it, and reinstalling usually works. I always try to keep the browser window open that has the DL link until I see that it's downloading or finished. I've lost 1 song that I spent 20 minutes working on and finally gave up. At $0.89 per, you aren't losing much. I wouldn't DL more than 1 song at a time (approx 20-40 seconds normally) until I see the popup saying its downloading. It is frustrating at times but better than itunes IMHO.

I use Amazon sometimes because it doesn't have DRM like iTunes sometimes does. Although iTunes offers some songs at a higher bitrate...But I don't download alot this way, so hopefully I won't run into this problem!

That sucks, but I have never had that problem with it. I buy all my music from Amazon now, just because it's usually a better deal for a lower price in a better format than you can get with iTunes. The only thing that annoyed me the other day when I bought an album was it didn't realize I already had the downloader installed and made me download it again. It may be because I'm using windows 7 or firefox or who knows what its problem is, but besides that I love it.

I've had good success with using Amazon MP3 on my Mac. Have downloaded a couple albums for 1/2 the price of iTunes.
