this is what ive come down to so far.

mother board i already have with its specs
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4244473&CatId=13

two potential video cards:

PNY GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Video Card - 896MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0 x16, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4588151

BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC Video Card - 1024MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, SLI Ready
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4683604

I am trying to make sure both match up with the mother board and then just kind of pick one. anyone see anything wrong with either one?

Get the GTX260. Dont even try to compair the gtS250 to it.

I would go intel for the processor but it would cost more. You didnt say why you went amd other then the obvious that its cheaper.

If you can wait 3 days for shipping then http://www.newegg.com is better in terms of price and customer service over tigerdirect.

Dont forget to use coupon codes and bing.com cashback to make the purchase even cheaper.

I would definitely wait until the 23rd to buy a videocard. ATI's new series comes out and I'm sure something will happen to the price.

^ FWIW, i had never heard of bing.com until i was browsing a slickdeals forum...and only after that did i bother to use it, if only for the purpose of cashback...as a search engine, it's better than most, but still not better than google, so i ignore it unless it has to do with cashback

i guess my point is that since i don't watch tv (when the shows are actually on, anyway), i wouldn't have known about bing.com until someone told me about it on teh intarwebs
