I recently got a Macbook Pro and it has an SD slot on it for reading SD cards, my Sony DSC-F717 digital cam uses a Sony memory stick, well more specifically a 1gb Sony memory stick pro duo that is put into a full size memory stick adapter when it's used in the camera. On my old PC laptop I had a PCMCIA card installed that fit flush in the side of the computer and gave me a 10-1 reader that was built into the computer but I have no such option with this mac, it's either use the built in SD reader or hook the camera up via USB. I travel a lot and don't like carrying around extra pieces of equipment to connect the camera and the computer or external card readers. What I'm looking for (yes I've googled) is an adapter to convert the pro duo to SD so that I could then pop it in the SD reader on my mac and get the pictures. Does anyone know of such a thing or have any other ideas?

I can't find one. I know you can get adapter that turn micro SD cards into Pro Duo cards and another adapter to put a micro SD card into a regular SD card slot. That's what I'd look into if you're really set on doing it without any external hardware.
