So last night I was on Western when the car in front of me stopped short, and when I stepped on the brakes, they decided not to work.
So now I have a busted headlight, a smashed up grill, and the hood is dented up so high that I can barely see over it. The car is currently undrivable (brakes and steering are both gone) and I don't know what to do. 9/20/2009 5:09:51 PM |

so what happens when the cost of repairs surpasses the value of the car.... or the cost of a new car...

So this was reported to the police and your insurance company is helping you take care of it, right?
Right?
You didn't put yourself in the situation where you had something that you couldn't afford to repair in the case of an accident, but you could've afforded to insure for collision, right?
Cause otherwise you're fucked and may as well just scrap the damn thing and buy a new (used) car and deal with a couple hundred dollar a month payment. Or maybe just buy a moped. 9/20/2009 9:20:37 PM |

The collision center is estimating $5200, just got off the phone with the claims adjuster so we'll see what happens after she checks it out. Chances are the car will be totaled.

Borderline totalled. It will all depend on how many miles the car has.
High miles will make it worth less and that means TOTALLED.
The brakes probably work. Slamming on the brakes + wet road + POS sebring's 2 channel ABS system = BOOM 9/23/2009 3:18:42 PM |

That car did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do to soak the impact and save your ass from getting hurt.
next time what you need to do is to pay attention to the road 9/24/2009 1:57:26 AM |

might as well save it an buy a use raggamuffin and drive it. then sell it after a while cause that cloud isnt gonna be worth a carp when you sell it make sure the guy looks at the steering rack. a car like that needs to be totalled out. not trying to be a troll here, but you are gonna have nothing but problems with that car if it gets repaired 9/24/2009 11:53:38 PM |

especially if some half wit hack like you is the one doing the repairs.

I'm getting the car back on Thursday hopefully. I was told the reason why the air bags didn't go off is because the impact was too high. I went more under the other car than into it. 10/19/2009 3:44:15 PM |
