It's a 17th degree polynomial hash created by the Lord Jesus Christ, a famous statistician.

Yates at 66? There is no way he rates better than Thad Lewis. Lewis is the 2nd best QB in the ACC IMO with what he has to work with.

Jonathan Crompton must have a negative QB rating.....

does anyone know why the nfl and ncaa use different passer rating systems?

I would suspect that it's because the NFL expects more out of their players since they are professionals. A perfect NFL rating of 158.3 would only be slightly above average for a college player.

is this why he was shown up by a redshirt freshman in their only 1A win of the year?

right, because the best Quarterbacks never have bad days, and Peyton Manning never threw 6 interceptions in one game. I'm not saying he's the second best QB in the ACC but he's a long way from terrible, and him having a bad showing in ONE game doesn't erase all the solid performances from the past 2 seasons.

i can see wake putting up 27 points if our d-fence doesn't show up with their A- or better game.

let's just hope RW has one more week of 4+ TD's from the air in him

Lewis is definitely a good QB. To me, he's a poor man's RW -- good mobilty, strong arm, can make things happen when shit breaks down. I'd personally rank the QB's

1. Wilson
2. Skinner
3. Harris
4. Harris
5. Ponder

Really though, 2-5 are interchangible based on who's having a good game and who's having an off game.

You guys can't tell me you really think Jacory Harris is better than Thad Lewis?

If you switch them out, Miami becomes even better.

Duke is still terrible....he's all they got.

You are crazy and a troll.

You base you're opinion on the playing time he got against fucking Army?

That would be like if Glennon came in and dominanted against Murray State and we said damn Glennon is better than Wilson.

Which wouldn't be far fetched considering everyone already knows Glennon has more pro potential than Wilson and we're just waiting to see it on the field before making that declaration. As a matter of fact, TOB put Glennon into the game when Wilson was struggling. Very bad analogy for your cause.

Of course Glennon has more pro potential look at him. Cannon armed almost 6'7".

NO ONE would argue that he is better than RW right now. Just fucking stop.

So what would the rating be if every pass attempt was intercepted and returned for a defensive TD? (I feel like that should be rated lower than every pass results in a 99 yard safety)

No one has argued he is better right now. Read the post and notice the context. It was analogous to the Duke situation. All we need is Glennon to come in and light it up for the debate to begin. Reading comprehension, get some.

You are pathetically moronic and are obviously basing your argument solely on the Army game. Thad Lewis has thrown 41 TDs and 18 INTs since the 2007 season and you are saying he's not the best QB on his team? Even the best QBs have shitty days, and that is what he had against Army...Peyton Manning threw 6 INTs in a game once, but even you wouldn't argue that he's not the best QB on the Colts.

Thaddeus Lewis 2009 stats: 72/123 58.5% 6.37ypa 5 TD 2 INT
Sean Renfree 2009 stats: 29/43 67.4% 6.65ypa 4 TD 1 INT

ONE GAME!!111!!!

it's not out of the question to think that Renfree could be a better qb than Lewis. He probably isn't (right now), and this is just a small sample size but really...it's not like Lewis is a great QB. He was just considered one of the better ACC QBs because most ACC QBs sucked

eh, their numbers are comparable for THIS SEASON but Lewis has been very good the past 2 seasons so I think it's very premature to say that Renfree is better at this point in time.

Quote :

I never said that, I definitely think Harris is a better QB, but everyone is down on him because he had a poor showing against VT. College football fans and media are very reactionary and make judgements that are entirely premature based on how a player/team played the past game, without really taking into account the body of work.

Quote :

the thing is, you've got to consider the players around Lewis... his offensive line is terrible and the other skill players probably would not even make the 2 deep on any other team in the conference (besides maybe UVA). Despite all this he's put up very good numbers the past 2 seasons, which is why he is generally considered to be a very good QB.

Cutcliffe recruits pocket passers...regardless of whether or not Lewis is the best QB on the team, he doesn't fit the style of offense that Cutcliffe wants to run

I mean he threw for only 453 yards against us.

throwing for 453 yards against us isnt quite the accomplishment it would seem. chris crane threw for 428 yards against us last year

i have a hard time using games QBs play against teams i root for in any sort of evaluation of them. matt ryan looked very average every time he played nc state, meanwhile christian ponder looked like a greek god. i seem to remember greg paulus lighting up the ncsu basketball team a few times as well

i will say lewis played very well and could not have been much better on saturday, at least. he moved from like 3-4 on my list of ACC qbs to #2. and it's not out of the question that he could be the best this year

i still dont think that makes him a great qb, depending on what your definition of great is. wasnt there some internet site that ranked the ACC and SEC QBs before the season and the only guy from the ACC in the top 12 was RW?

This is what I hope people see now. Thad is better than Jacory Harris for God's sake.

Most of his throws were money Saturday. I know they were open and whatever but my God he dominated us.

well yea, and i wasnt totally disputing that from the start

the acc is just bad. look at the guys you throw in there as "good" qbs

- wilson
- lewis
- skinner (gimmick offense where 80% of his throws are 5 yards or less)
- harris
- taylor (gimmick QB where 80% of his production is from running)
- ponder?

even when lewis shred us this weekend most of his passes were of the wake forest variety because our defense simply cannot defend that. granted, he made more difficult passes than skinner did (the only hard pass skinner made was the winning TD) yesterday, but nowhere near as many as a good qb should have to - and that's on our defense for sucking. my whole argument is that the qb play is so bad in the ACC that a redshirt freshman could easily be better than one of the better QBs in the conference

what's the most sad is that it was worse last year. A redshirt freshman was THE BEST qb
