Figured I would post this here instead of classifieds.

I know it is a long shot, because I'm in Charleston, SC, but I figure it cant hurt.

I am trying to sell the broken down 2001 Honda Passport sitting in my driveway. I made a thread a while back about it, my wife seized the engine up on the highway. Everything else worked fine before that, so I assume everything in the car is still in good shape.

Its the EX fully loaded model, leather, sunroof, 4x4, 6 disc changer, etc... It just needs a new engine. The broken down engine is still in it, for what ever thats worth (dont know if you can use any parts from it or not).

I need to get rid of it soon, and am looking for $1200. That being said though, if someone from TWW wanted to buy it, I would knock off $200 for you having to come down to Charleston and get it. So $1000 to the first TWWer with cash. You would need a trailer/tow dolly/tow truck to pick it up.

Here is a link to some pics:

Any info you need to know, just let me know. The battery is currently out of it, but at last check, the mechanic wrote down 117,478 as the mileage. If need be, I can hook up another battery and confirm that.

Hmm, I'm very curious how your wife "seized the engine up" on the highway. Did she drive into a river?

What say you, TWW? Project a la Renault's F1 Espace wagon

She didnt stop immediately when the oil light came on .

Dont really know what caused it to drop oil pressure all of a sudden though, unless the last people who changed the oil stripped the plug and it was draining out, which is my best guess.

She and I had a long talk about immediately stopping the car when red lights come on after this.

I hate to say this, but "2001 Honda Passport" has one thing written all over it:

BOAT ANCHOR

Not a cheap engine to buy or replace or rebuild.

^^^exactly. you pretty much have to buy each piece individually from isuzu for the 3.2/3.5, and they aren't cheap. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if prices have gone up even more since the gm/isuzu split. last i checked, you were also s.o.l. if the block was damaged at all.

decent engines, though. the only ones i've seen catastrophically fail were thoroughly abused in some manner. the only real issue that plagues them is a poor pcv system and the lifters like religious oil changes with the correct weight or they go to ticking like hell.

the best bet for anyone repairing this thing would be to get a junkyard/salvage engine...
