I bought a Samsung LNT-4669f about 16 months ago. Up until now it's been working perfectly. Starting about a month ago I noticed that it started taking a couple of "tries" to power up.

To clarify, I hit the power button and it clicks on and the red light on the front comes on, but rather than the screen coming up, it clicks off again, the red light goes off, and then a second or two later, it clicks back on again. Eventually after 2-3 attempts it would come on as normal. It stayed this way for about a week. Then it started getting progressively worse. One day it would take 10 seconds to come on. Then the next would be 20 seconds. Then a full minute. For the last week or so it's been taking 2-3 minutes to boot up. Then yesterday it took a full 30 minutes or so. Today it took almost 2 hours.

The entire time it is trying to power up it is doing the click on, red light comes on, wait 2-3 seconds, click off, red light goes off, wait 2-3 seconds, repeat thing.

I did get a new receiver not too long before this started happening, but I can't imagine that would have any effect. I have unplugged the HDMI cable from the receiver and tried to turn on the tv and it still does the same thing.

Also once the TV finally comes up, you can turn it off and then right back on again and it comes back on instantly. This, combined with the fact that the last two days have been the first two "cold" (mid 50s) days so far this season leads me to believe that it's related to the temperature somehow, although it was in the high 60s and 70s when this all started, so I'm not ready to completely say it's temperature related.

Is any of this ringing any bells for anyone? I don't suppose there's an easy fix for something like this? I'd appreciate any help I can get from anyone, even if it's nothing more than an estimate on how much something like this might cost to fix (or if that's even a possibility)

yea, a sudden shift in temperature can wreak havoc with electronics... Give it a few more days to let its sinuses clear out and the issue should go away.

This usually happens to my LCD monitor when it gets cold outside, although it's some shitty off brand.

a lot of pollen can cause a fuzzy picture... recommend that you crush a claritin and pour it into the primary HDMI input

unless this is some sort of weird-ass issue with the power cable, you're probably lookin' at eventually getting a repair on the power supply. sorry, mang.

scratch that, just re-read the progressively-longer bit. unless you let your house get down to 50, i don't think the temperature is that much related. you'd have more trouble with humidity if you're considering environmental issues.

you might wanna be looking into what options you have for repair or replacement.

I do keep it pretty cold. I only turn the heat on at night or when it's super cold. So the last couple of mornings when I've turned it on, it probably was fairly cold in the room where the TV is.

Like I said, it started doing it when it was in the 70s, so I don't think the temperature is the cause, but the colder it is, the longer it takes, so obviously that has something to do with it. I would think.

I have a Samsung 40" LCD at high altitude (+5000') and it takes about 10-15 seconds to display the picture... i just chalked it up to the TV, not weather or altitude, but something i guess to think about... i dunno
