Down to business. FIFA 10 comes out today and has been getting really good reviews in the UK where it has been out for almost 3 weeks now. 91.29% on gamerankings and 91 on metacritic make it the one most well received soccer games ever. I'm hoping I can find some people on here to start an online league or just play a few games with. 09 was my first soccer game purchase and I played it a good bit, but not enough to beat the hispanics I was inevitably paired up with in the unranked matches.

Anyways, if you want to play some games or just talk about what you like or dislike about it, use the thread.

EA has definitely stepped their game up recently with FIFA. The last couple of versions have been getting better and better. Wish they'd do the same with Madden.

I hadn't played since the 2003 edition when I got 2009 and I thought it was a little tough, but there is a lot of depth in the game to learn and get a feel for.

^2003 suked because you couldn't head the ball and the only formation that worked was the 4-5-1 because on the kick off all of the defending players didn't move and the forward dribbled past everyone to score while they stood and watched.

I'm waiting for 2010 FIFA World Cup and then I will buy my PS3 for my 30th birthday in May.

Is the WC edition worth it? I remember playing the Euro 2004 game and seemed like a lest robust version of the regular FIFA (I guess the 04 version was the one I meant in the last post).

I've lost 7-0 combined in the first two games. I've yet to score a goal. I don't understand it either. I was balling up the demo, but I can't get a good strike in.

^^ you need to. the wii version doesn't look nearly as good as the 360 version and seems to be missing lots of the new features.

the transfer system is a lot different. you can't just throw money at a player to get him on the squad. i was looking for a CM in the 70s to add some depth and i couldn't find anyone who had an interest > 30%. they either said, "I don't think I'd be in the starting 11" or "I want to play with better players".

luckily, I went ahead and maxed out my scout and signed a guy who was just as good as the transfer targets but came at less than half of their transfer fee

also, I like the assistant manager option which subs out your guys for you in between games. better squad rotation and i don't have to spend time before each game looking at fatigue/injuries and scanning through my roster trying to replace him.

no, they have some international teams and you can play them in a tournament you make yourself, but no official world cup teams or qualifying procedures.

I'm 0-5 with Hull City so far on Professional with mostly manual (only passing/crossing on semi)... I just had a great game with Man U though... lost 2-1 on a Rooney goal in the 78th minute. He beasted my center back and flicked it over my keeper...

I'm probably going to get fired! My first W should come soon against a League II team in the League Cup.

try not to sprint unless you have a bunch of open space and use the L2 button when dribbling in tight spots or when waiting for a teammate to open up. i'm still trying to figure out the R2+L2 dribbling but that seems to work just as well.

I have 1998, 2002, and 2006 for PS2 because the World Cup is my favorite sporting event. The 2006 version had qualifying and 127 teams. It's a nice collectors item.
