i looked at home depot and lowes, but neither carry fluke and i wasn't too impressed with their made in china selection. i'd like to be able to pick it up tomorrow rather than ordering online.

Students get a pretty good discount on Fluke equipment!

I bought a Fluke 189 Multimeter kit that included all kinds of extras... But you wont find that meter on there anymore. Fluke changes hardware all the time, seems like every six months theres a new model number out.

i went by fastenal, they didn't stock them but could order one. on i whim, i stooped in a sears. turns out they had a handfull of lower level flukes in stock. i got a 117 which is powerful enough for troubleshooting things around the house. i don't really need a $300 meter to check if an outlet is dead, but the mickey-mouse one i had wasn't cutting it.

if i ever get back into programming micro controllers and high frequency pwm stuff, i'll look for something a little more capable, or maybe get an oscilloscope.

of course all my stuff is for work. i dont think i could afford a $50k scope for personal use
