we all know bob griese was suspended recently for his taco comment referring to nascar racer juan pablo montoya.

well, on sunday gus johnson was doing the titans game and when chris johnson broke away from everyone on an 80 yd. touchdown run he said, "hes got break away from the cops speed!!!"

why is there no backlash over this?

Gus Johnson could take a dump on my mom's face and I wouldn't find it offensive.

What's there to be offended about? Chris Johnson is black? You sure your latent racism isn't clouding your judgment here?

^as i said above i just heard this being discussed on the packman show and he was talking about the double standard

i couldn't care less; i just wanted to see what people thought

if you don't see anything wrong with it then you agree with me; i just wanted to see what people thought

and referring to montoya, he was talking about the nascar chase and somebody asked what happened to montoya and griese said "he was probably out eating a taco" and is now suspended

People are allowed to make vaguely racist comments about their own race

Duh

I'll only get offended if Jessssay Jackson and Al Sharpton get involved.

^^that was what one caller on the show pretty much stated

packman didn't think it should make a diff. when you are on national tv.

Maybe because they're related? They have the same last name and they look alike.

i don't think it has anything to do with his skin color, he just meant the guy went to ECU

Would he have been suspended if the driver was from England and he said he was eating some fish and chips? or if he was from Germany and he said he was eating some Brats and Kraut.

maybe he thought he would enjoy a taco. if you assume that he likes tacos specifically bc he is columbian, you are a racist.

I think the biggest difference is that Juan Pablo wasn't eating a taco, but Chris Johnson was running with "break away from the cops speed"

It seems like the current pattern is:
1) Someone makes a comment
2) A few people worry that someone, somewhere will be offended by the comment
3) Those few people push for the punishment of the person that made the comment to appease the person that has yet to be offended

Kinda reminds me of the whole NCAA indian mascot thing.

to even think this is racist, you have to associate breaking away from the cops as being a "black" thing. Therefore, its racist to think what Gus said was racist.
