The Iranian police are getting a bad rap. They're just trying to restore order. If the protesters would just go home, they wouldn't have to beat anyone. 11/4/2009 10:29:06 PM |

This is the work of instigators, if you ask me. People who just want to stir up trouble.
If these people actually had a legitimate grievance, they could have applied for a Tehran city protest permit. Then this could have taken place legally and peacefully in a public park far away from government offices. Of course, Tehran doesn't really have the facilities to accommodate such a large gathering at this time.
So, by order of the Chief of Police of Tehran, this has been declared an unlawful gathering and you are ordered to disperse immediately. If you remain in the area, you may incur physical harm.

I don't know why they're protesting anyway. They have a legitimate democratic process...that's the proper way to show disapproval. Sure...the candidates are hand-picked by a small circle of party leaders, but that's just the nature of democracy. Voters would be confused if just anyone and everyone were allowed to run for election. This way everything is simpler, and they still get to choose! They claim there were discrepancies in the voting, but with an election of this magnitude how could there not be? After all, even America loses ballots sometimes. It just happens.
It's absolutely shameful to see the Iranian youth in the streets like this. They're so unpatriotic! Don't they realize they're dishonoring their country and everything their fathers fought for in the war with Iraq?! 11/4/2009 11:03:15 PM |

Badge numbers should be written in large font on all riot gear.

^ That's actually very much in line with what are known as Peelian principles.
