With my first addition to the app store getting closer and closer I thought I would start a thread to see how many of you have developed and distributed an app to the app store.
Whats it called? What does it do? What are you currently developing? etc.. 11/11/2009 9:20:52 AM |

^^ yup ... I hate IB.
and for fair disclosure, I didnt write all the code myself for vCaddy ... though i have had to sort through most of it for quality assurance and bugs.

What do you do as far as getting your apps known? Do you just tell friends and post on forums you frequent?
My app is a game, so I have a couple websites I plan on submitting it to, but at this stage the challenge with the app store is getting your app to float to the top. 11/12/2009 10:36:50 AM |

yeah, with 100k apps out there(large portion being games), thats an uphill battle, to tell you the truth.
Find some website owners who would be willing to post a review of your game, and give them the promo code, so at least they get it for free. Thats a good place to start.
Pay for some banner ads or rotating ad spots on the more frequented app related message boards.
Its pretty tough to get the word out though.
... Also, do lots of updates, so that your app floats to the top of the release date list. 11/12/2009 10:44:50 AM |

btt!
My first attempt into this minefield is available for a buck

Wouldn't you know, I bought it at midnight and my first play I found a minor bug that I had sworn was corrected. Ah well, updated binary will be submitted tonight!

It is my understanding that updates no longer move an app to the top of the release list.
