no way, mayweater can actually match his speed, which no one else has been able to do. not saying he wouldnt win, but its not a given by any means. 11/15/2009 12:40:23 AM |

Mayweather is like Fedor he only takes fights that he would be the favorite in, he would be a huge underdog against Pacquiao. 11/16/2009 7:56:56 PM |

heard on the radio that if they went 50/50 they stand to make 40 mil each i think we can all look forward to that fight although the thought that one of their legacies will be damaged might get in the way 11/16/2009 8:30:42 PM |

No way Mayweather is anywhere close to being a huge underdog. I think he should be the favorite. The closest version to a prime version of a common opponent is Juan Manual Marquez (Ricky Hatton and De La Hoya were both over the hill by the time they faced Manny). Floyd embarrassed Marquez, basically winning every round easily while Marquez fought Manny even in their two fights.
You also have to factor in Floyd impenetrable defense. He doesn't take chances nor does he make mistakes. To my knowledge, he has never been knocked down or even stunned in the ring. So much like Bernard Hopkins, the best you can really hope for is to slide by with a close decision. I'm not saying Manny couldn't win, but my money would definitely be on Floyd if the odds were even. I think Floyd could have a field day countering Manny. I'm just not sure he could keep it up for 12 rounds.

I will give you Oscar De La Hoya as over the hill but Ricky Hatton is the same age as Manny and has fought in less fights.
He destroyed Hatton in 2 rounds while it took Floyd 10 rounds. Manny may not be quite as fast as Floyd but he would be the fastest opponent that he has faced.
I think Manny would overwhelm Floyd, and he has speed on top of power.
I don't think it will happen though as Floyd will probably want the bigger percentage.
I would take Manny all day to shut that cocky SOB up. 11/16/2009 11:08:11 PM |

If you are contemplating retirement after a fight it is hard to say you are in your prime. Hatton's best win came in 2005 against Kostya Tszyu. He really never did anything since then. I don't care how old he was, he was washed up when he fought Manny (and to a certain degree Floyd) as well. 11/17/2009 6:58:45 AM |

i like you use the argument hatton and de la hoya were over the hill when they fought manny... they were over the hill when they fought floyd too, and manny beat them much easier then floyd did
Mayweather doesn't want to fight pac man... mayweather says he wants a bigger split for the fight. like 65 percent.. he knows he wont get 65 percent, thats crazy.. That's his cop out for not wanting to fight him. Mayweather just waits to fight all the good fighters until they are getting old.
if they fought, It would be a good fight, but i think pac man wins.. his speed can match floyds and he hits harder.. you have the best of both styles.. floyd is the best technical fighter in boxing today, and manny is the best at pushing the action with his unconventional punching angles.... it makes for a great fight..
i think the betting lines would be almost even for this fight... it could go either way
I still don't think this fight will happen. Floyd doesn't want to fight pac man 11/17/2009 10:31:39 AM |
