Yes.

I have not owned a console since Sega Genesis. This may be the reason to change that.

If that video is posted on the EU site, 09-03-2010 probably means March 9, not September 3. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, but I just had a joygasm either way.

whats wrong with leona lewis?

if i were a fan of the series id focus more on the fact that final fantasy game monsters have gotten progressively easier and that super bosses dont just plain kick your ass anymore u just have to exploit some specific weakness and that the gameplay has become more linear and they seem to have completely abandoned the free roaming nature of the games, the worlds nearly arent as immersive as they used to be and the characters have become impersonal

rather than bitching about leona lewis being involved

that being said i still love the series, these are just my gripes over the years with some of the later titles

it's available on 360 too. And March 10 is probably right... they have had a projected release date of Spring 2010 for a while too.

This sums up my biggest complaint about the series.

Hope: Snow, you let my mother die.
Snow: Hope, let's hope you will see her again one day, there was nothing I could do.
Lightning: Hope, you are are pussy. Get over it. Snow, it's snowing and lightning at the same time!
Snow: Lightning, did you cast the ice spell and lightning spell at the same time?
Lightning: Oops, roflmao.

8 is by far my favorite, followed by 10.

I enjoyed the Draw method a lot.

I played the shit out of that. Got every single GF, killed every hidden boss, it was glorious.

most videogame stories are demeaning to a 9 year old's intelligence

^^ Yeah. I mean 8 was the first I played, 9 didn't do it for me and I got really into 10.

I never played 6, and I only played 7 years later.

I'm not arguing which is better, just stating my preferences.

8 was the easiest FF in the series, bar none.

I know there was the system where the monsters leveled up with you, but after a certain point you were a beast against pretty much anything you could fight. I got Squall up to level 100 without even going out of my way to power-level him, and I beat Omega Weapon on my very first try. Ultima Weapon was even more of a joke.

Final Fantasy 8 wasn't a bad game by any means, but one seriously aggravating thing about it to me was the Draw system. The Junction system defeated the purpose of this entire Draw shenanigan, where the more spells you had, the more powerful the Junction was. This, in effect, defeated the whole purpose of casting magic and Drawing was nothing more than a tedious process to beef up your character. I was the kind of person who would stay on the same boss fight for an hour/2 hours in order to get 100 of the spell I wanted so I could have an awesome junction. It's a creative system, but what's wrong with old fashioned armor in order to boost my stats?

I was also displeased by how much emphasis was put on summoning. I swear to God I've had to have seen the Diablos and Leviathan animations over a hundred times apiece.

its cool cuz if you aint strong enough or havent made good enough characters u can actually get stuck in a sequence of fights and have to start WAY back or start completely over

this. i remember leaving 1 party member with the ability to draw just to check if bosses had any GFs i could steal and then using whatever GFs i already had for the rest of the battle. it just got really tedious towards the end of the game. plus that god damn eden summon was so long you could boost it all the way up to 250, fuck up, and then still have more than enough time to boost all the way back to 250.

actually... 8 was only summoning dependant until somewhere in disc 3. at that point, limit breaks became the ultimate source of damage. (once you found a decent source to draw/synthesize aura magic)

^ yeah i think you're right. still, that might be around 75%+ of the game where you depend on GFs that much which kinda sucks. and i remember using aura constantly in the final battle. i also kind of cheated on zell's limit break where i'd pause the game as soon as the menu came up for his different attacks so i could use the best combinations as much as possible.

I liked 7 and 8. A lot of people didn't like 8, but I thought it was a good game. I was also a kid, and enjoyed playing through the story line and doing random stuff in the game. More recently, I played 12, which I haven't actually finished, but every now and then I'll bust it out and play a few hours every day for a week or two. I'll definitely be trying to play FFXIII. I heard it was coming out on 360, is that true?

VIII was a game that was very well done, but you didnt realize this until several months after you first beat it. its a classic

that said, VII is the greatest video game of all time.

it will be weird seeing this release on xbox, just as it was weird when squaresoft left nintendo.

i'm actually in the middle of a very satisfying playthrough of FFVI on zsnes emulator. Just entered World of Ruin and this time around I am prepared to save Cid's life.

glad to see final fantasy is still continuing in one form or another.

FF VII is just about the most overrated video game of all time. I'm not saying it isn't a great game, but it's not even the best FF IMO.

the graphics look phenomenal but that has been their main focus for a while now

insert generic story about incredibly powerful outcasts like xmen and there you go

and of course the world will be in peril

FF7 had the best music of any video game ever, IMO. Timeless and epic.

Music starts to kick ass right around 1:00:
