Could a field be added for the ISBN number for the book. Thanks. Would help in the searching process and to make sure the book is the correct one.

Thats a pretty good idea...it would ensure you get the correct edition as well since most people don't post that info.

ISBN field is not there? That's kind of weird, considering that the ISBN is the only thing that is unique to a book, any book, anywhere in the world (no two books have the same ISBN number, but they can have identical titles, or identical author names...)

i would like to be able to search by book and not by class, becuase I'd buy books if they were the same for my classes.

I thought for sure there would be a way to add ISBN numbers since that's how I figure out if books online are the same edition as the ones that the bookstore list gives me. There needs to be an ISBN field.

We have been looking into this for awhile...what we want to do is instead of making it an optional field, is to make it the ONLY field except for price. You would enter the ISBN, and then our server would query the Library of Congress' gateway server for the rest of the information. I don't know if an ISBN only search would work well though, since that is somewhat difficult to come by.

Well folks its up. All the old books have been nuked. There are some new features and changes:

• The new book exchange has been integrated with your course registration in the school tool to make posting and searching for books easier.


• Posting a book has been simplified, keying on the ISBN of a book. The title and author and all other information is pulled from the library of congress' server.


• Hopefully a more powerful, cleaner, and easier to use interface.

All I can say is WOW. It sucks to have to redo all the books that were in there but this is a much more streamlined method. Nice implementation Joe.
