Lucky dog.

The prednisone will supposedly help with throat swelling so you can breathe easier, but everyone I've known with mono had to just suffer through it.

My husband had mono back in 02 and it sucked. It took him a long time to feel normal again.

I had mono my junior year. Pure misery for about a week and then I was fine again. But make sure you get lots and lots of sleep, you don't want to get the related fatigue syndrome.

aha I had it one summer a year or two back. Shit sucked major balls.

Don't fight the need for rest. Viscous lidocaine is awesome, but tastes positively wretched. It's tricky getting it as far down as possible, without swallowing.

It was all pretty much a blur. I doped myself on nighttime cold meds

I had it my freshman year at state...was the worse 5 days of my life. I lost 20 lbs (weighed 270lbs @ 6'5")...had strep throat, fever, chills, etc. only started to improve after my dad prescribed prednisone after three days of agony. you'll be good to go in 3 days after starting prednisone...good luck with the recovery.

I went to the doctor today and apparently I have some sort of rare heart murmur. And not like "oh it's no big deal" rare, but "yeah, you can just drop dead at any time" rare.

so your mono can kiss my ass

I once had a fake case of mono, it resulted in me skipping the first month of my senior year in high school

^same here

Half the football team got it because our coach didn't believe in giving us water during practice and after practice we all had to drink out of one nasty plastic cup. I'm not making this up.

ask thumper's husband. I dont think he played, but he knew the coach. total fuckup lucky he didn't kill some people

Nah, you might have had it once, but not twice. Doctors often diagnose mono to college students when they just have a bad cold or some other virus.

There are other viruses similar to mono that aren't quite as bad, the REAL mono will have you on your ass for between 1 and 2 weeks, and you won't feel right for about a month afterwards.

[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 8:49 PM. Reason : point being, you can only get mononucleosis ONCE]

mono is a great diet though. you'd think california would have come up with mono districts or ways to keep it indefinitely
