No, mine is fine.

^ really? I LOVE MY DISH. I pay a penny for 3 or 4 cinemax HD, much cheaper and more HD than TWC, plus every 3 months my bill is $9. Had it near 2 years... I did not get reception maybe twice in that time. No biggie, just watched recorded shows on my DVR (which has a much larger drive than TWC also)

I wish I still had Dish Network. I loved the dual-tuner DVR I had when I still owned a house in Raleigh. Got rid of service when I moved to Texas, not knowing that my apartment complex here allows dishes w/o any problems. The SuddenLink cable service I get (including their DVR) is... mediocre.

So... +1 for Dish.

^^ How is your bill $9 every 3 months?

I have dish, and I am interested in that.

Our 722 box has been having problems with priorities lately. It will say it is recording 4 things at once, which it can't. Then it mixes up the names of the recorded files. Also, it will record 1 minute of the same show for 10-20 times in a row and the either stop or continue recording the rest of the show.

It's only been in the past month or so we have had this problem.

i've heard that hooking those boxes up to the internet causes problems. i've never done that so i don't really know if it does or not.

Yeah that ad bullshit on the guide sucks ass. I am actually thinking of dropping DISH because they raised my bill about 13% at the beginning of this year. They started charging me more for my two receivers and then slightly dropped my plan rate and tried to claim that they were saving me money. Yeah when my bill was $75/month and now it's $85/month, how the hell did I save money on this "deal" again. I complained to them and they more or less said "fuck off".

I'll probably switch to DirectTV in the summer or go the HDTV antenna/Netflix route and see how that works out. I'll miss live sports, but oh well.

^just turn the ad off. it's really easy. also, my rates have never been changed. i've never heard of someone's rates changing except in the case of them signing up for say $29/month for 6 months then it goes up to $40...but you go into that deal knowing that up front, unless you don't pay attention. i'm thinking this is likely...

^The TurboHD prices changed and they were not promotional rates. Mine went up $10, but it's still a good deal to me.

I'm thinking about signing a contract for this FREE HD FOR LIFE thing they have going on, going to try to talk my way into the 922 box and maybe some free HBO too.

Do they (or any of the providers in the Raleigh area) get AMC HD? I need it for The Walking Dead

Its a gimmick...just be aware of that going into it.
Before, they charged you $10/month for "Platinum & HD". Platinum is basically the HD channels that do not correspond with an SD channel (minus HDNet). This includes HDNet Movies, UniversalHD, Paladia, IndieHD, RetroHD, Epix, as well as a few "bullshit HD" channels (LogoHD for example...they upconvert the SD channel to HD and call it HD, but do not offer it in HD).

What they are doing now is offering you HD free, but this HD does not include the Platinum package. If you want the Platinum channels, its -- you guessed it -- $10/month. If you are a current customer, you have to reup your commitment to do this...personally Id rather keep the Platinum channels and it be easier to walk away when I finally decide the lack of ESPNUHD and fulltime HD RSNs is too much. As a new customer though, youre under a 2-year contract regardless, so you will save a little over what you would have had to pay, unless you want the Platinum package too.
