November 20, 2009 -- Acura will start pricing for its new 2010 ZDX five-door hatchback at $46,305, including delivery charges.

The vehicle, based on Acura’s MDX crossover platform, goes on sale Dec. 15, American Honda Motor Co. said today in a statement. The ZDX weighs about 110 pounds less than the MDX and has less rear-seat and cargo room.

It sports a glass moonroof that covers the entirety of the vehicle’s top, along with Acura’s first six-speed automatic transmission, mated to a 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 engine and all-wheel drive.

The ZDX offers two trim levels above the standard version. The “technology package” starts at $50,805 and adds features like an upgraded sound system, a navigation system, real-time traffic and weather tracking and a multi-view rear camera.

The “advance package,” which retails from $56,855, includes all of the features in the technology package and a blind-spot alert system, crash-prevention braking, adaptive cruise control and heated seats.



Acura is suffering through its fourth straight year of declining U.S. demand. Its 86,379 sales through October were down 31 percent from year-earlier levels.

The ZDX sales target is 10 percent of MDX sales, or about 6,000 units in a non-recessionary year.

You know what, their cars don't look so bad at all... IF THAT GRILLE IS CHANGED.

I am serious, if you have mad photoshopping skillz, replace that grille with a normal grille and it won't look bad actually. I will admit though, the new TL has been fattened up, and is quite weird looking, and the new TSX looks bad compared to the previous one. And the MDX is just a mistake. So I guess yes, previous gen Acuras (and gen before previous) looked much better than current ones.

But that grille just magnifies the ugliness by a factor of 10.
