So my Dad is a photographer who needs to print passport photos for different countries in many different sizes. (i.e. Mexico's passport is like 1"x1.5" or something weird) Even when he sizes this correctly in photoshop, whenever I try to get XP to print it, it always tries to fill the entire page with the picture. He used to have some crappy HP software that came with his printer that did it but they haven't updated this software in like 10 years. I also ran across a website epassportphoto.com that google recommends over and over but it appears to be down and I can't tell if its temporary or permanent. Does anybody know of any good free software that will allow him to print photos in a custom size (preferably with many of copies of the same photo on a page)?

make sure the box that says “scale to fit media” is UN-checked, and the size is 100%, when you are sure photoshop is set to the right size.

Dude that's so weird! In college I too was a photographer that needed to print photos for different states in many different sizes! That was years ago, so I'm not sure if the software I had still exists but it was by Adobo or something called Pictureshops? People even started paying me a lot of money to advertise their mugs and addresses on those laminated teslin and pvc picture 'business cards'. Then I got in trouble and had to stop -- Apparently "Adobo" didn't want me using their free program!

I even had a few guys wondering if I could 'emboss' a visa for them in the same name with a provided number but I didn't know what they were talking about. Maybe your dad would have since he does passports.

this is the most basic thing in the damn world in photoshop.

Also, get a newer printer if he's using something 10 years old. Spend the $99 on a new photosmart printer and you'll get infinitely better results.

Also, passport photos are not worth the time and energy involved.

Ok so I've never used Photoshop before. I managed to find the printing options in there to kinda do what he wanted. Then I'm just copying/pasting the picture multiple times on one sheet.

step one, crop photo at desired size, 1x1.5in at 300ppi.
step two, double click "background" layer to unlock it.
step three, expand canvas size to 8x10".
step four, create duplicate layers until sheet is full.

or know just a tiny bit about contact sheets, automation, picture packages, and any of the other ways you can create stuff like this.
