any suggestions on what to study? was the studyguide helpful at all? 12/11/2009 2:30:27 AM |
fdhelmin All American 1058 Posts user info edit post |
The exam goes in the order of the study guide. 1-3 questions on each subject. I made it into a bullet list and then color coded by chapter. I read all of ch 17 since it was like 40% of the exam. For ch 10 and 11 I focused most of my attention on what was on the study guide. Ch 12 & 18, I looked solely at what was on the study guide. I'm not sure if that was the best way to go about it, we already got our grades and I ended up with a B in the class. I've walked into the last 3 and felt like I'm ready to ace it and then those stupid tricks and if this then this but not this rules mess me up. I got a 76 on the final. Meh. Good luck. Remember the rules and exceptions. Know what goes where. I guess that is applicable to every exam in there lol. 12/13/2009 4:14:44 PM |

probably hardest final ive ever taken. i feel like he has to curve that. 12/15/2009 12:48:31 AM |
fdhelmin All American 1058 Posts user info edit post |
yeah same here. I had him for 210 and it took me by surprise that he even curved our regular exams in 330 I'm not expecting much of any curve for the final. He's old school. You get what you earn, and experience and subject matter is more important then grades. I must admit I did learn alot, even if it's all confusing

i mean with test averages going as low sa 55, he didnt really have a choice but to curve our exams. i really hope its curved. i guess we'll see! 12/15/2009 10:31:01 AM |

I had wright for 330 and she curved our final like 15 points. I don't remember if the final grade was curved or not, I think just all of the test. 12/15/2009 11:05:20 AM |

Yeah I heard she gives people a cheat sheet to take with them to each exam since it's her last semester. She's been more gracious with curves all semester when comparing with Carraway 12/15/2009 11:07:18 AM |

Is ACC330 substantially harder than 310/311?
I did well in 310 + 311 -- but it was a lot of work (a whole lot).
Is the workload similar?
I thought 310/311 were the hardest of the series.
Any thoughts? 12/16/2009 8:37:30 AM |

I'm pretty sure I've got an A in 310, maybe an A+. 330 was MUCH harder for me. Lots of rules and exceptions to learn. You gotta be able to think through the exams. I felt like 310 was a breeze compared to 330. 12/16/2009 9:55:30 AM |

It's to finish the minor for me.
Is it corporate or personal taxes?
I originally thought pure corporate -- but then heard personal.

Since personal income tax is fairly simple, relatively speaking, corporate tax/self proprietors are the main focus. I believe most of the course is applicable to corporations; however, a lot of people want to understand their own income tax, so in the last month or so of class we go over a lot of self-business income tax as well as your regular 1040. We complete 3 tax returns in the last 1.5 months which covers Schedule A's and etc. We also have one tax research case, which is a group project, where you are given a certain situation and you need to find what tax laws are applicable in classifying hte income. Other then that, it's 3 exams and turn in 12 out of 15 homework assignments (graded for effort). It's not, at least for me, something that you can cram for the day before and expect to remember the if, and, or buts.

Dont brag about making an A in a class like this. You should ALWAYS make an A in any class where the grade is determined by your score rather than by a curve.
