Hello I am trying to buy some stuff for my Dad but know nothing of the entertainment he enjoys.

I know he likes Three Stooges and Andy Griffith but I saw on Amazon that they each are known for their TV shows with 7 and 8 seasons respectively.

Do you know of any movies or stand up acts from them that are relatively famous?

Also my Dad likes Charlie Chaplin and Jerry Lewis so I was wondering if you knew of any DVDs of them that are well known?

Also if you know of any collections of any of the above entertainers that are available for cheap or know where I can download them please tell me or send me a PM.

Otherwise, give him some Pryor and Carlin Stand up and call it a day

All of the stuff you mentioned is at least 50-60 years old...your dad would have to be in his mid 70's to have enjoyed it on its first run

There should be plenty of to find...If you don't want to get him a few seasons in DVD then scratch Andy Griffity for now.

Three Stooges should have some multi-dvd packs of greatest hits or favorite sketches, any one of those would be fine. Just make sure they are from the early to mid years with Moe Larry and Shemp or the most well known Larry Moe and Curly lineups.

If you want to get him something from Charlie Chaplan you could get him a copy of the Gold Rush Special Edition DVD. it's one of his best and well known. or find a box set collection that has Gold Rush and a few others. Modern Times is another well known one.

sounds like he would enjoy red skelton.

also, look up the smother's brothers. although they might have been be a bit too progressive for his tastes. they were the john stewart/stephen colbert of the late 60s.

If he likes three person comedy teams, then it gets no better than the Marx Brothers. Duck Soup and A Night at the Opera are good.

How about WC Fields? Check out The Bank Dick or Never Give a Sucker an Even Break.

Maybe he'd like early Woody Allen or Mel Brooks. Get him Love & Death or The Producers.
