i currently have just free OTA antenna hooked up to my single coax input on the back of my TV.
i'm about to install satellite just to get a few asian channels for my parents

is there a way i can hookup both to the back of my tv? do i just get a diplexer with two coax in and one coax out?

down the road if I switch to Cable HD and want to do Cable HD + the asian satellite, can I reuse the same diplexer?

are there any channel intereferences/signal loss using the diplexer?

if there are better alternatives, please let me know

I use a diplexer to put my DirecTV signal and my TWC internet on one coax, but its one of those things where YMMV. You need to figure out the exact frequency range of the satellite your using to make sure it doesn't overlap with the cable signal.

you can always get a coaxial switch and not worry about signal interference, though you have to switch depending on which you wanted to watch which for me is not too much of a hassle, unless you are connecting them outside. That would be a hassle. mine is indoor beside the tv.

Satellite and VHF/UHF are typically on very different frequencies, so a diplexer should work fine (just remember you need one on each end).

for now it will just be two things setup:
(1) chinese satellite so my parents can watch their channels
(2) my standard OTA antenna

both these have two coaxs and i need to combine them onto one single coax on the back of my tv so i can switch between the two...

but darn it i forgot i have TWC internet coming off the coax too..is that gonna screw up the satellite coax coming from outside?

^yea, surely your satellite provider has alternative outputs. If you can get it to RCA than a $20 inverter and a $10 switch from radio shack will get everyone talking together.
