Just saw the trailer on apple's website
http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/robinhood/

I personally don't think the movie need to be made, looks a little like they're trying to repeat gladiator. In my humble opinion the robin hood : prince of thieves is the ultimate robin hood movie and it should be left at that.

put anyone other than kevin costner in that role and you're probably right. but in my humble opinion, he ruined that movie.

the rock music in the trailer is an interesting choice. although some of the gladiator trailers contained "Bawitaba"

I'm reading Robin Hood right now. They use all those old timey words that are hard to understand, like the bible, but it's a really good read. They drink a lot and fight a lot more than the Disney version would lead you to believe. Rarely does a chapter go by that someone doesn't whack someone with a staff and claim a barrel of ale as the prize. I hope this movie follows the book.

I can see the scene now... who are you?
I'm the leader of the merry men, prince of thieves, I'm Robin of the Hood!

not quite the same as
"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”"

Yeah, some of the shots look like gladiator, it's the same director. Both this movie and gladiator take place in a previous time, both have combat scenes with swords and bows and arrows. And scenes in woods. And mostly, they both have Russel Crowe. Put Crowe's face in some shots from Kingdom of Heaven and that will probably look just like these as well.

It's kinda like saying Body of Lies looked like Black Hawk Down. They look similar because they're both Ridley Scott movies that involve war/gun fights in the middle east.

Ridley Scott has made a lot of good movies, but I wouldn't say his shooting style/choice of cinematographers has led to an extremely versatile look/style to his films. But like I said, he does make good movies, and i bet this will be my favorite Robin Hood movie of all time.

The universal perception of Robin Hood is kind of a joke and goofball story thanks to Costner's bastardization and Men in Tights.

Very Similar to how the Clooney/Kilmer Batman movies had devolved into pointless fluff.

Here's hoping Crowe (One of the top 5 actors working today IMO) can right the ship and make this the gritty kind of story its suppose to be.

Uhh what book? Like many folk heroes, Robin Hood wasn't just made up by one guy.

Russel Crow as Robin Hood? Ehhh.....I will take the Costner version with Morgan Freeman. Instant classic. I will go see this, but so far does not remind me of any Robin Hood story...

My bad, B. It's an old ass version of "THE MERRY ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD" by Howard Pyle. Thrift store find. $.50.

It's pretty tight so far. I just got to where his nephew came strutting through the woods and Robin Hood, not knowing who it was, decided to fuck with him. Little John and that dude who had just whooped Little John's ass were telling Robin Hood how even though that dude was dressed like a noble fairy he had broad shoulders and a strong back, but Robin Hood wouldn't listen. Good book. I wish they'd make a tv version so it would go quicker.

^^^Did you get a copy with all of Pyle's illustrations too? The drawing of Will Scarlet is probably one of the best in the book, and RH's dialogue contrasted with the absolute beating he gets from WS is hilarious.

Disney's Robin Hood is the best. The humor is surprisingly smart and the music is better than the diva shit that dominates the newer movies

^ Seriously?

A director/producer and an actor who both have made some really good films + a story/character that has entertained masses longer than any of us could truly imagine living... Yeah, no clue why anyone would want to see this.

yeah, but this isn't really Robin Hood. it's a bunch of big medieval battles with (apparently) no suave swashbuckling (think Errol Flynn).

Saw this last night and enjoyed it. There was less fighting than expected, more building up of characters. Really long though and slow at parts
