I know there's threads on this, but fuck it.
Straight up, is newzbin one of the good ones? If so, I'll take an invite

PM your email address to one of us if you want an invite. Yes, newzbin is one of the best.

i think it's unnecessary if you have IRC or even an RSS feed reader, which most of you probably do.

I've become accustomed to the service and have no problem paying for it.

The thing that turns me away from newsgroups (and downloading in general) is the shear number of viruses and trojans hidden in a lot of the files. Nearly every damn comment on newzbin is about a file being infected with a virus.

Most of those are probably false positives for a keygen or crack. If you use them to get the scene releases for movies/music/television it's practically a non issue. It's just the applications and suspicious other files that you have to look out for.

^is correct. most of them aren't really "viruses" in the sense that they'll actually do anything to hurt your computer..but they're picked up and deleted anyways just bc of what they are. it's kind of bs imo but whateverrr

there are still a lot of fuckers who take scene releases and repack them with trojans/loggers/passwords that you have to sign up on various sites to retrieve/etc. and you never know which ones are which because they keep the file names the same. you need to get only stuff uploaded by people from a trustworthy IRC channel, imo.

^In 4 years and after countless terabytes of data, I have never once had that happen to me.

Then again, I don't often use raw binary searches.

^^I download about 300 gigs a month and have been using the newsgroups for ~8 years and I've never once had any issue with viruses, keyloggers, anything of the sort. I download about 98% media and only 2% applications and with newzbin it's really easy to find the application you need, look at the comments and see if it's a good download or not.

Don't send me anymore PMs for invites. I just ran out of the 10 I had. If I get some more I'll let you guys know.

I have a few left.

Does everyone know that it's a pay service and not some super secret torrent site? I'd rather not waste them.

lol what did you people use before that makes you think this service is so much better?

someone told me they created the concept of the NZB file but in my opinion, they're like AOL was to the internet after i got my cable modem

NZB Specifications

newzleech.com and binsearch.info work alright if you know exactly what you are looking for. Newzbin is the only site I know of that offers browsing by newsgroup or category (or make your own grouplist). Newzbin's information is also given in a much more coherent and cohesive format.

You can even link it to your Newzbin account and search through there.
