Those of you who've gone the aftermarket route, where do you shop? Online or brick and mortar suggestions in the Raleigh/Durham area is fine. I know Google will yield an assload of results, but I'm in the market for some first hand recommendations here. 1/11/2010 10:16:44 PM |

I've used http://www.tirerack.com several times, as well as Discount Tire (the store). They usually price match. I'll be going the same route in a few months when I need some new footwear for the S2K. 1/11/2010 11:44:57 PM |

yeah, definitely look into used stuff for rims
unless you want some ridiculous size, special order, super low offset (baller)
someone is bound to be getting rid of what you're looking for for cheap

it's tough to find special offsets used. I am going through that right now on my Rx-7. 1/12/2010 1:43:31 PM |

^what do you mean by "special?" http://www.carolinanissans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24566
unless you're 4x100, it shouldn't be too hard to find nice rwd offsets. but even with 4x100, you can find non-namebrand stuff with good offset in universal 4 pattern.

I've purchased a set of wheels used before, would definitely do it again.
In fact if I can find a set of powdercoated AP1 wheels I'd be very tempted to jump on it. 1/12/2010 1:57:55 PM |

I'm on board with used. I've been trolling CL with no success and I went to the hood last weekend in hopes of hitting up a few rent-to-own joints and getting a reasonable price by paying cash for a set of used wheels with new tires - I wasn't successful. I guess they're profitable by charging 30% over MSRP by financing a $1000 purchase for 24 months and when you're paying cash they're not in the market to make a deal. 1/12/2010 2:33:12 PM |

Annoying part is the 16"v17" and width differences. 1/12/2010 4:44:43 PM |

I too am trying to find rims. Willing to spend around $100-$200 for 4x100 15x7 or 16x7 that don't look like rice. Unfortunately, my biggest worry is someone trying to pass on a bent rim, thus leaving me with a possible set of 3 good rims and 1 shitty one. I used to see this size rim all the time on CL, but not so much anymore these days

discounttire.com has better deals than tire rack. and when you buy from DTC you dont have to pay someone to put them on . 1/12/2010 8:19:40 PM |

^^^Well I'd get those AP1 rims to put all season /snow friendly tires on. I'm annoyed with my tires losing a significant amount of grip whenever its below 45°F outside. I can't imagine even trying to drive on snow/ice (if necessary) lol. 1/13/2010 12:17:53 AM |

LOL Quinn was talking to me about this just a few days ago regarding the Azenis on his S2k, iirc.

Yeah it's ridiculous. More than 25% throttle gives me slippage at the wheels when making right or left turns from one road to another. We all know how much of a torque monster the S2000 is, but just the same 1/13/2010 9:40:38 AM |

I've got my last three sets of wheels off of ebay. Better prices than any individual online retail store, even if the sale is from one. If I wasn't looking for knock-offs, then I would probably pay more and go to a 'wheel' site. 1/13/2010 1:00:28 PM |

Replaced the aging ADVAN NEOUVO's (sp?) I had in the rear with S.Drive's. Much smoother ride all around though I haven't tried anything crazy to see how much handling has been affected. 1/14/2010 10:36:13 AM |
