When I play games in full screen mode, the screen goes blank (usually taking the most prominent color of what should be on the screen) with white or multicolored lines.

If I alt-tab out of the game and back in, it returns to normal, at least for a few minutes when it happens again. When I play games in windowed mode, I have no problems.

Have you dusted the computer/checked to make sure the vid card fan is working?

It could be the the increased load spikes the temp and fucks around with the system.

But drivers, preferably Omega drivers would be the best start. Then DX then maybe dusting.

What about the power supply?

This is exactly what has been happening.

But I have installed DirectX and my video drivers.

i would try a complete uninstall & reinstall of the latest drivers for both directx and vid card. find a driver cleaner program to remove all traces of the drivers after you run the dedicated uninstallation files and of course have restarted the computer. that will eliminate any leftovers that could impact the reinstall.
