Everyone else is making a thread about there favorite team so I guess I will....
Project Starting Lineup: 1 RF Ichiro Suzuki 2 3B Chone Figgins 3 CF Franklin Gutierrez 4 LF Milton Bradley 5 2B Jose Lopez 6 DH Ken Griffey, Jr 7 1B Casey Kotchman 8 SS Jack Wilson 9 C Adam Moore
I think the top of our lineup has potential. Our #1 and #2 are solid. Guitierrez is coming off a .283/18/70 season and Lopez is coming off a .272/25/96 season. Bradley is a douchebag and everyone else is mediocre. Not a lot of power but our strength will be speed and defense.
Starting Rotation: 1 RHP Felix Hernandez 2 LHP Cliff Lee 3 RHP Ian Snell 4 LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith 5 LHP Garrett Olson or Doug Fister
Our #1 and #2 is the best in baseball. I really like Rowland-Smith and I think he is definitely our 3rd best pitcher (career 3.62 ERA in 88 games and 27 starts). Snell has some good stuff and pitched solid after he got traded to us last year. Garret Olson blows. Doug Fister will probably end up being our #5
Bullpen:
CL RHP David Aardsma SU RHP Mark Lowe SU RHP Sean White MID RHP Shawn Kelley MID RHP Brandon League MID LHP Jason Vargas LR RHP Kanekoa Texeira
Closer and setup men are sick. There's not much change in our bullpen from last year. We had one of the best bullpens in the AL last year and I doubt that will change.

My pick to win the division as well
Anaheim has definitely regressed, and I don't trust Texas
Don't sleep on the Eric Byrnes signing, he might platoon with Jr. if he's healthy 1/30/2010 11:10:38 AM |

yeah maybe they can equal the amount of fail that comes with winning 116 games and not even getting to the world series

Bedard might resign with the Mariners!!! King Felix, Cliff Lee and Bedard would be a sick 1-2-3
He'll be out for the first couple months of the season though...

bedard has averaged 82 IP over the last two seasons, what makes you think he'll break the century mark this year? 2/4/2010 8:12:52 PM |

^dumbass. I never said he would. Direct quote from me: "He'll be out for the first couple months of the season though..."
Quote : | "Mariners signed Erik Bedard to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with an $8 million mutual option for 2011.
He could make up to $8.5 million with incentives. The left-hander posted a 2.82 ERA in 15 starts for the Mariners in 2009, but missed most of the second half of the season with shoulder problems, eventually undergoing season-ending surgery in August. He likely won't be a significant factor until mid-season. " |
Fuck yeah!!! Great deal for Seattle. They're only out 1.5 million if Bedard completely shits the bed when he returns. The most they have to pay out is 8 million if he does well. Well worth it for a top pitcher (when healthy) for the second half of the season 2/8/2010 8:59:04 AM |

Very interesting approach to free agency in that they’re almost completely forgoing power. They signed Figgins, who needs divine intervention to hit one out of the park, and Casey Kotchman, who probably has the least pop for a 1st baseman since Keith Hernandez. Their 3-4-5 figures to be some combination of Milton Bradley, Jose Lopez and Franklin Guittierez.
Their playing to their parks strengths, where right handed power hitters go to die. Beltre, Sexson, and others have all struggled there because of the deep dimensions and the prevailing wins off the sound.
It makes sense to try a different approach with Figgins and Ichiro setting the table and a bunch of 15-20 HR guys behind him.
Still, you have to wonder if the lack of a basher, even someone as pedestrian as Russell Branyan last year, could prove frustrating for them. 2/8/2010 9:10:57 AM |

It sure as hell is frustrating to watch. Our strengths will be speed, pitching and defense. Boring but effective national league type ball. I doubt anyone hits over 25 HR.
Judging by GM's willingness to make key moves, I have a feeling that he won't hesitate to trade for a big left handed bat sometime during the season if needed.
I'm impressed that The M's have been the most active team this offseason but ended up trimming payroll in the process. 2/8/2010 9:49:41 AM |

I’d rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out.”" |

Weekend gate
You can get away with not playing on Tuesday or Wedneday
But you can't give up Saturday and Sunday gate

Besides, it would fuck up series
Teams would have to have three days off, not one
You have weekend series from Fri-Sun
No one wants the play Thur-Sat or Sat-Tues
It would fuck up the TV schedule, travel, everything 4/13/2010 5:45:40 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148441 Posts user info edit post |
You would at least have a set schedule like football, instead of "some teams play each team in their division 18 times, while other teams in other divisions..." 4/13/2010 5:47:05 PM |
Slave Famous Become Wrath 34079 Posts user info edit post |
Every team plays each team in its division 18-19 times
Thats the reality of the unbalanced schedule. I'm not a fan of it, but thats a different argument. The only discrepancies come it with the other games, say where the Yanks may play the Angels 9 times and the Mariners only 6. But thats trivial over the course of 162. 4/13/2010 5:49:08 PM |

Got to see them whoop up on the Padres 15-8 last week. Unfortunately, they basically used up their runs scored allotment for the month in that one game. 5/28/2010 3:03:41 PM |
