*xbox live noob*

I have an xbox. I have been playing for months, offline. Created avatar, beat some games, found the secret stuff, etc.

Decided I should probably take advantage of online play, downloads, etc.

Signed up on xbox live.

Problem/question: Will the character that Ive created and been playing with be able to transfer to my live account. And more importantly, without losing game accomplishments, wins, etc?

So far I can't figure any way to make this happen. Have I been wasting time by playing offline, will I be needing to re-do everything Ive done?

Import avatar/character a possibility?

Did you make a new account to sign up for xbox live? What you should have done was change the name of the offline account to whatever you wanted your xbox live name to be and then made that account a live account. You might be able to call MSFT support and get them to refund you or something.

i changed the name on the account prior to signing up online for the account

After changing the name(on xbox), and signing up online (the name was available), then logging in on the xbox, there are now two profiles on my xbox with the same name. There is the previous one, with my accomplishments, etc. And there is the new one, also with the same name.

One of the profiles has the xbox live logo at the bottom (new profile) and the other (previous one) has no logo, says that I need to sign up for a new account, blah blah blah
