Is faking an RFID more or less difficult than throwing a brick through your window? My guess is that an RFID lock would work as well as a key at keeping your door locked unless someone really wants in.
If you're really worried about that problem, I recommend gun™.

it works as a lock the same way all locks work....it just is unlocked in a different method - it's been proven to unlock it takes minimal effort - the real issue is being close enough to get enough reads from the rfid tag that is used to unlock the lock 2/5/2010 1:06:18 PM |

I mean RFID tags can be scanned from hundreds of yards away with the right equipment but worrying about stuff like that is for the tin foil hat crowd and my dad, I'd say get them if you want them 2/5/2010 1:15:12 PM |

If someone wants to break into your house bad enough, they will. Regardless of what locks or alarm system you have. Guns and dogs will give a thief a harder time, but in the end, if they want it bad enough, they'll find a way to get it.
Risk vs reward.
Just leave your doors wide open with cookie on the table. That way maybe they won't trash you place when they take what they are after.

the LF tags that are used in these systems are not able to be scanned from a long distance - they don't have enough power to send data long distances - you can active them from a long distance but you won't be able to read them2/5/2010 1:31:10 PM |

^ Listen to him on this.
And not worth it unless its tied into a home security system, then "expensive novelty". Get a dog, many more benefits, and solves home security issues. 2/5/2010 9:39:56 PM |
