Totally wiped out from an afternoon of wakesurfing. I must have taken a surfboard to the thigh, because I have an unexplained bruise and that's the only way I could have gotten it.

Our jetskier friends were doing backflips off the wake, and tomorrow should be interesting bc a neighbor is trying out his brand new, super light jetski and he's going to try a double backflip.

Can't wait!

Jetskier friends did not land the double backflip. We were using a 2-boat approach to getting the perfect wake, but the second boat had engine issues and mission was aborted midstream.

On a positive note, that means I got an extra wakesurf run bc we weren't trying to set up the jetskiers w/sweet wakes.

Approx 30 min of wakesurfing. This rocked.

I'm doing some interior work right now, but I will be selling this in about a month if anyone wants a good wake boat. These "2001" hulls are the original wake monsters. Correct Craft used the shape as the template for their first Air Nautique.

^^how is that in any way worthy of posting? If it develops into something pretty colorful then post a pic of that. That just looks like someone hit you with a spatula.

I thought it was kind of a funky shape for a surfboard mark. It looks more like a bite mark than a surfboard mark. The color is much more intense IRL, but the colors aren't very vibrant on my blackberry camera.

Who is wakeboarding? I made it a full three jumps last weekend before eating it and having to call it a day. My neck is still sore.

Weather wasn't too great last weekend, but it held out better than I was expecting. The wind chop was really bad though. I took the ATV and did some riding when it started raining Saturday evening.

I've been out there a couple of times so far this year, the water was still cold as shit 2 weeks ago. Heading back this weekend for a banger, will likely be out there from now until September/October at least every other weekend.

Went wakesurfing yesterday after work. The water in Florida is perfect already. It's going to be bathwater by Memorial Day.

Went out to Jordan on Sunday on my buddy's pontoon boat. The weather was REALLY nice, and there were low puffy clouds along with the sunshine. The water is too cold for me to want to get in yet.

haven't been out there yet. Took the boat out 2 weeks ago and ran it for awhile after it was wrapped up all winter.

my folks are getting ready to replace the dock with a new one that has a slip and powered boat lift and PWC docks so I may not get a ton of riding time until that's finished. But once that is mid-week sessions and early mornings will take over my summer.

FYI guys...
Starting this Saturday, May 1 North Carolina now requires anyone under the age of 26 to complete the NC Boaters safety course, either in the classroom or through the online line course and you must carry your boaters license on you while operating the boat/pwc. From all i've read through the NC wildlife updates that i get, they are going to be pretty strict about it in order to try and get more people in the course and more idiots off the waters until they do so.

This is for boats and jetskis. So if you are like me and have the license or are over 26, and have a boat and love to wakeboard/tube/ski or just like taking the pwc for a spin you may want to try and get some of your crew to take the course so that you won't have to be driver the entire time and miss your chances to ride.

For anybody that's heading out to Lake Gaston this weekend, Adam Fields and crew are hosting a get together Saturday afternoon. It has been encouraged that the word is spread.

If it's not raining or otherwise shitty outside (forecast seems to think it will be on Saturday) I'll be on something that looks like this without the tower:

I actually know two people with one of those (minus the tower). It doesn't belong to a guy in Whipoorwill Hills in Pea Hill Creek does it? If so, that guy is one of my neighbors.

Nah, the folks I run with are in Little Stonehouse Creek, and that was the closest boat I could find as a comparison. It's a white and yellow Chaparral, but it doesn't have that back deck thing either.

Ah, cool...The folks I hang out with who own the blue & white Malibu Wakesetter VLX live in little stonehouse. I wakeboard and surf there a lot. They're across the cove from Outdoor World and a little to the left.

I think I've only been on the wakeboard once. Just haven't been able to get motivated plus I've been out of town on other trips several weekends this year. I've surfed a few times.

friday shouldn't be too bad as long as you can get there early. but you're right, unless you have a group of guys that want to go out early for some pulls it's gonna be near impossible to find good water. I'm gonna try to board tomorrow afternoon, then the rest of the weekend will be floating, jet skiing, and tubing.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I've got a new toy to play with in the waves though, so I'll be out some. It's a Kawasaki SX-R 800 standup jet ski.

I'm hoping to do some wakeboarding on Tuesday though.

Two years ago we loaded up a boat and surfed right down the middle of Pea Hill Creek amongst the 9,000 other boats & PWCs who all wanted to show off how fast they can go. Lots of nastiness ensued. It was fun though.

I am planning to head to Lake Jordan tomorrow. Anyone know a place to launch my boat. I am cheap so a free public boat launch would be ideal.

The state park boat launches charge $6 a car. I may go to Crosswinds Marina. It is $10 to launch there but I don't think they charge by the car. Several friends are planning to meet us out so this seems more reasonable.

Skack, how was the new toy? I've never ridden a stand-up before but want to really bad. I never see them out on my lake, i've probably seen ~5 in 3 years. I finally got my two GTXs running perfect again. They're 12 years old and after trying to fix them myself I finally took them into the seadoo dealer and just said screw it. Got them back for this weekend and they ran beautifully. I'll take my 2-strokes over the new 4s anyday and these can outrun just about anything on the water But i would love to play on a stand up sometime.

I only boarded once and that was monday morning and shit was I sore. My lower back could only handle about 3 long runs before i finally had to call it a morning and let the others ride. Doubt i'll advance any this year since i'm getting such a late start but hopefully i'll be able to get some decent time behind the boat in for the rest of the summer.

Lots of tubing though, i don't care how old i get i'll never outgrow getting whipped around on the tube

http://www.rtpnet.org/chaos/farrington.html

I've been told that Farrington Point is the only free boat ramp on Jordan lake. $6-$10 is ridiculous for a public ramp IMO.

The SX-R 800 is a blast. I'm absolutely beat from riding it though. It taxes your calves and lower back a lot. It definitely takes some skill, but by the end of the first ride I was pretty comfortable. After the first day I was out looking for boat wakes to jump. I still crash sometimes when I try to do tight turns, but that will get better with time. Wide turns are no problem though. I had ridden stand up skis twice back in the early-to-mid 90's, but this is the first time I've had enough time to really learn to ride one.

I brought my old Sea Doo home so that I can clean it up. It's a 1993 XP model that has been sitting for about 2.5 years now. I'll probably work on it this weekend when I get some time. I'm planning to sell either the Sea Doo or the Kawasaki at the end of the season. You're right about the old skis. I love the lightweight hulls and engines. Most newer skis are easily 200+ lbs heavier than my Sea Doo and they're just not the same. I try to tell people they wouldn't need 200+ HP if their ski wasn't a freaking boat.

I got in a surf run behind a Wakesetter VLX on Sunday. Did a wakeboard run behind another Wakesetter on Monday and did some surfing behind a Centurion C4 Avalanche on Monday. My boat stayed at the dock most of the weekend other than a little bit of cruising.

had a pretty decent sunday out on the wakeboard. I have really slacked so much this summer, this may have been my 4th session out which is terrible. but it's quite nice what 6+ beers can do for confidence. I wasn't anywhere close to where i got to at the end of last year and my toe-side edging was sloppy but i was getting some decent air and layed down a couple sloppy 180's before my out of shapeness finally caught up to me.

Really we had much of my end of the lake to ourselves so i took a couple buddies on a pretty intense slalom style tube ride. Hooked the tube rope up to the wakeboard tower, don't know why i haven't done this sooner!!

Tubing behind the tower can be a blast...I need to do this more. Just make sure you have a strong tower. I've got a 13th Floor tower on my Nautique that shakes and flexes like crazy, so I won't do it. We hook them up to my neighbor's Boss tower on a Supra or the Malibus with the Illusion tower from time to time. There are very few things more enjoyable than kicking a drunk girl so high that she is floating the height of the top of the tower as she bails off the tube.

Best thing ever is to drive at about 9-10 MPH for a couple hundred feet to make a monster wake. Then get the boat on plane and do a circle and head directly toward the wave you just made at moderate speed. At the exact point where the boat is about to hit the huge wave cut it hard and accelerate. The boat never hits the wave, but the tubes will sling into it at 30+ MPH.

I went to the beach this past weekend, but the weekend before that we made it out one morning. I'm super sketchy this year too from not riding enough. Falling over super stuff and getting tired waayyyy too early. I have to cut some weight before next season.

Too bad it's not an 04 with the "bat wing" shape. Those things were terrible about delaminating, but Hyperlite is still really good about warrantying them. In other words, it would mean a free 2010 board for the buyer.

Not a bad deal for a good starter board though. Better than dropping $300-$600 only to find out you want something different.
