I let my buddy borrow my scooter over the winter since he lives down south and needed and wanted to try one instead of driving his car. Just kinda worked out I wouldn't need it for a while so I thought why not.

Never had to get it inspected before. 150cc not a likker cycle (needs registered obviously and insurance obviously) so counts as a 'motorcycle'

Now I do, and the registration is coming up. If I miss the registration come late, and the tags expire, what will happen? I told him to stop riding by that date of course, he doesn't need to ride it...... and I should be able to pick it up from him in the next couple of weeks.

I mean, per the state, if you let it go past, what is the fine, etc?

OR if he decides to buy it from me, without being able to meet in person, how would I go about selling to him? Never sold a car or motorcycle in my life, especially not to somebody in another state.

I have the title-- somewhere. So I know I'd have to get a duplicate. Then what?

I think they fine you if you're 30 days late.

If you don't want to deal with it right now, just have him mail you your license plate so you can turn it in.

If you want to sell it you'll just have to meet him in person at some point, unless you know a crooked notary that will just stamp it with only one signature.

i mean, kudos to you for following the law (seriously)...i figure most folks hedge their bets against not being pulled over since i would assume that most people (those who get coverage) only have liability...i would assume that anything past that is $rhodeisland

kinda my next step and that is why i wanted him to borrow a scooter

getting used to riding in traffic without a shit ton of power to get killed

plus it was for short trips, and of course, amazing gas milleage.

find me a bike that gets my 110cc scoot's 115mpg for $1500 and we'll talk

my scoot has better pickup than my 4cyl saturn (not saying much, i know)...i can hit 55mph at 3/4 throttle without any effort and 65mph cruising all-out...i'm a pansy and scared of riding anything but a big(ger) motorcycle on the interstate, so my scoot makes tons more sense than a motorcycle for anything that isn't interstate...at 115mpg for $1500 (used, but less than a year old and less than 1200 miles), a bike (in my situation) simply can't compete in terms of practicality, value, or efficiency

and yes, i do very much "enjoy" riding my scoot
